In conjunction with Tommy Tune's exciting and much anticipated return of TOMMY TUNE TONIGHT to the Purple Room in Palm Springs, CA on February 24 & 25, Tune also brings his talent for bringing colors and images to life to Gallery500. Opening on February 20, is PALM-ISTRY, Tunes masterful take on palm trees depicted with the vibrancy and use of acrylics. Painting with acrylics is all about technique as the end result can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting, having its own unique characteristics not attainable with other medias. Running through April 2, PALM-ISTRY offers fans of Tune the opportunity to own part of this rare collection of acrylics featuring silhouettes and images of palm trees that inspired this charismatic entertainer's new collection.
There's this little subsection of musical theater from the 50's and 60's that are big crowd pleasers due to the fact they were just plain fun. Sure, sometimes they dealt with issues as well but for the most part they were toe tapping good times. One of those that falls into this category is definitely 'The Pajama Game' currently playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre. And while it may not be the best example of a solid show from that era, it's still a hell of a lot of fun and this production takes that fun and amps it up to 11 due in large part to some fantastic choreography from Bob Richard and a killer cast.
