THE TAMING OF THE SHREW is one of Shakespeare's most famous comedies. In popular culture the play was translated into the 1999 movie 10 Things I Hate About You starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. To keep the content entertaining Orlando Shakespeare Theater staged this production in the wild west, which fit the material perfectly.
These cherished stories (and some forgotten classics) get a new breath of life and a newly found appreciation through a web of comedy, drama, romance and with traces of Cirque de Soleil with a set that is truly something to behold!

The 56th annual season of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival will feature a classic lineup - a comedy, a tragedy, a history - alongside a hilarious Shakespeare sendup and a return engagement of an Off-Broadway hit.
At first impression the show seems gratuitously violent, but apparently revenge killings were a way of life during Shakespeare's time. Despite the blood and gore, TITUS ANDRONICUS became Shakespeare's most popular play. It is not recommended for the squeamish as buckets of stage blood is thrown about the stage along with chopped off body parts.
The actors comfortable interpretation of this verse, along with fantastic staging and great sword play made this show truly exceptional evening of theater.

Malvolio is much, much darker and when he vows revenge in the last scene it comes off as ominous and sinister. It left me wondering if there was going to be a sequel - "Friday the 13th Night!" "Malvolio's Revenge!" "The Dark Night Rises!"
