BWW Photo Exclusive: THE LION KING Cast Records for 'Carols For A Cure'

CAROLS FOR A CURE is the annual two-disc holiday CD compilation of original songs and holiday classics which benefits BC/EFA. These CDs boast the best voices from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway and national tours. A full track list for this year's 14th edition has not yet been announced, but the cast of Broadway's THE LION KING was already hard a work recording their track for the album. Andrea Marcovicci Releases SMILE Album; Performs at Cafe Carlyle, 10/2-27

Andrea Marcovicci, the acclaimed singer and actress, has announced the release of her first CD of new material in five years, Smile, on her own label Andreasong. The new recoding her is based on her show of the same name that will be performed at New York's famed Cafe Carlyle from October 2 to 27 after hit runs in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. The disc can be purchased at CDBaby.com and Marcovicci.com. The CD will also be available at live performances, starting with Andrea's final West Coast performances of Smile at The Gardenia in Hollywood on September 14 and 15.

Planet Ant Theatre Presents HAMTOWN RACES, 9/21-10/13

Planet Ant Theatre is set to shine the spotlight on the colorful and diverse characters of Hamtramck in Hamtown Races opening Friday, September 21 and continuing through Saturday, October 13. Tickets ($20) are on sale now at www.BrownPaperTickets.com. Reservations are also available by calling (313) 365-4948. A complete performance schedule follows this release. Planet Ant is excited to open its 2012-2013 season with Hamtown Races, a new work from Margaret Edwartowski (Harper Woods), author of last season's Snowbound and The Do Over. This original production will take audiences to the Al Ameer Cafe, a family business owned and operated by Lebanese immigrants that plays host to a colorful and diverse collection of characters, each representative of the varied and shifting cultures in Hamtramck. Hamtown Races pays homage to this one of a kind city and features Stephen Blackwell (Berkley), Patrick O'Connor Cronin (Bloomfield Hills), Mike Eshaq (Dearborn), Britta Peele (Harrison Township), Amy Probst (Detroit) and Rico Bruce Wade (Lansing), directed by Mike McGettigan (Dearborn) assisted by Michael Hovitch (Ferndale) with stage manager Genevieve Jona (Farmington Hills).

Celtic Thunder's Paul Byrom Releases Solo Album THIS IS THE MOMENT; Plays B.B. Kings in NYC, 9/21

Original Celtic Thunder vocalist Paul Byrom decided in Fall of 2010 to leave the group, in order to re-locate to the States and launch his worldwide solo career with a new solo recording. The resulting album, THIS IS THE MOMENT has been released and is available online and at all shows. Byrom's concert tour will take him to the New York area on Sept 21, 2012. He will be at B.B. Kings Blues Club and Grill.

Tenor Anthony Kearns to Perform NJ OASIS Benefit Concert, April 2013

WOB Launches 'Famous in Frederick'

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre & Children's Theatre has launched www.famousinfrederick.com. The new site will include a collection of photographs of Way Off Broadway performers, associates, and guests as they travel the globe. Some on national tours, others simply visiting fun locations while on vacation. Making all of these people Famous in Frederick is their official "Famous in Frederick" branded shirt.

Photo Flash: TRACES Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

TRACES, the show that turns circus on its head, will conclude its New York engagement September 2, 2012, to embark on a European tour this fall. Created by the Montreal-based troupe 7 Fingers, TRACES has been playing the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street) since July 2011. Originally intended as a 10-week limited engagement, the show opened to rave reviews, shifted to an open-ended run and, by the time of its final performance, will have played New York for over a year. Last night, August 9, the show celebrated its one-year anniversary. Check out photos from the event below!
