New Hampshire Theatre Project kicks off their 27th season with Hot Mama Mahatma, written and performed by Karen Fitzgerald, the actress formerly known as Karen Abrami. Karen graced Seacoast stages for 15 years, in dozens of lead roles with some of the area's top actors, before heading south to New York City in 2004. While there, she wrote Hot Mama Mahatma, a comedy about her post divorce adventures. The tagline? "She went to India to get enlightened but got turned on instead!" Besides playing to sold out audiences, Hot Mama Mahatma won the Producer's Award at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in Manhattan.

Signature Theatre recently announced a one-week extension for John, written by Pulitzer Prize winner-Annie Baker (The Flick) and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). The production, which kicks off Signature's 25th Anniversary Season, will now play through Sunday, September 6. John began performances last Wednesday, July 22, and opens Tuesday, August 11 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

59E59 Theaters will welcome Guna Nua Theatre Company (Dublin, Ireland) and Ramblinman with the US premiere of PONDLING, written and performed by Genevieve Hulme-Beaman and directed by Paul Meade. Part of Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, PONDLING begins performances on Tuesday, September 8 for a limited engagement through Sunday, October 4. Press opening is Sunday, September 13 at 7:30 PM.
