Roller disco mania meets Mt. Olympus as the Upper School proudly presents Xanadu. This hit Broadway musical is based on the cult classic movie of the same name, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time - the first roller disco (Hey, it's 1980!). But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.

After several years of being 'green' as Elphaba in the Los Angeles, San Francisco and Broadway productions of the hit musical WICKED, singer/actress Teal Wicks can now be seen touring the country in the new Broadway-bound revival of JEKYLL & HYDE: THE MUSICAL, in which she co-stars with Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis and Grammy nominated pop star Deborah Cox. The show will play a limited 3-week engagement at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood from February 12 to March 3. The Pittsburgh CLO Ambassadors hosted a Wine Tasting and Silent Auction preview party for sponsors and members of the press on January 29, at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh. The preview party was held to raise awareness for the Ambassadors' 16th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, which will take place Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Duquesne Club, and will feature wines from Capital Wine & Spirits.

She will star alongside Adam Cooper, who continues to lead the cast as Don Lockwood, joined by new cast members Louise Bowden playing Kathy Selden and Stephane Annelli who will play Cosmo Brown, completing the iconic trio made famous by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in 1952 MGM musical film.

The Young People's Chorus of New York City celebrates the 25th anniversary of its founding by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, with a festive benefit concert at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium Monday, February 11 at 7 p.m. Renowned soprano Renée Fleming hosts a star-studded array of well-wishers from the worlds of classical, pop, jazz, Broadway, and dance. They include Broadway/concert artist Capathia Jenkins, emerging young singer-songwriter Kate Davis, the Antonio Ciacca Jazz Trio, and the Stephen Petronio Dance Company, who will join the Young People's Chorus of New York City and The New York Pops in a spectacular showcase, musically launching them into their second quarter century.

Pittsburgh CLO has announced the Pittsburgh CLO premiere of Side by Side by Sondheim at the CLO Cabaret May 23 - August 18. The sophistication, wit, insight, heart and genius of Broadway's most innovative and influential artist is at the center of this tribute to composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim - a perfect introduction to the work of the contemporary master and a must for die-hard fans. Following Side by Side by Sondheim will be the eagerly-anticipated return of Defending the Caveman, back by popular demand after a sell-out run at the Cabaret in 2011.

The Santa Barbara Film Festival has announced its 2013 lineup. The 28th edition features films from 49 countries and runs January 24-February 3. The festival will open with DISCONNECT, a drama starring Jason Bateman and will conclude with Rowan Athale's Wasteland.

In the crisp, morning hours on December 27, 2012 I got the chance to speak with Lara Teeter, who will be playing Cap'n Andy in the upcoming production of SHOW BOAT at Houston Grand Opera.
