Broadway Vets Set for American Dance Machine for the 21st Century's Return to The Joyce Theater

American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) has announced casting and musical numbers for their return to New York City's Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue), it was announced today by Founder and Producing Artistic Director Nikki Feirt Atkins. Performances beginMonday, December 21st and run through Sunday, January 3rd.

Dancers Over 40 celebrates diversity in dance with Can't Stop the Music! Can't Stop the Dance! Diversity All Around Us! – featuring DO40 Advisory Board member Jerry Mitchell's new musical comedy, Gotta Dance – the incredible true story of ten determined dreamers who have three things in common:  they love to dance, they have something to prove and they are all over 60.  They battle pain, prejudice, self-doubt and each other for a chance to bust a move at center court in front of 20,000 screaming fans at a national basketball team's half time show. That panel will be moderated by Broadway World's Richie Ridge. Also featured, a celebration of African-American, Hispanic and Asian artists including DO40 member Gus Solomon jr's dance company Paradigm, and members of his company, Carmen de Lavallade, Sarita Allen, Hope Clarke and Karen Brown (Dance Theater of Harlem, Complexions, Ailey, Dunham Companies), as well as Dr. Mel A. Tomlinson (Dance Theater of Harlem, Ailey, NYCB), Gemze de Lappe (Agnes de Mille) Gail Reese (Ailey, Donald McKayle, Talley Beatty, Agnes de Mille) Fernando Carrillo (Ailey II, Ballet Hispanico),  Lillian Colon (RCMH's first Puerto Rican Rockette) Solomon Dumas (Garth Fagan, Ronald K. Brown, Ailey II), Jill Williams (The Clark Center), Complexions Ballet, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and Baayork Lee and the National Asian Arts Project.

Lyric Opera of Chicago's general director Anthony Freud announced today that Broadway's Tari Kelly will portray the feisty Ado Annie in the company's premiere and new production of Oklahoma! directed by Gary Griffin May 4-19 at the Civic Opera House. Casting is now complete for the beloved classic musical.

On October 12, 2012, The New York Pops orchestra launched its 30th Season at Carnegie Hall with Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a "polished, welcoming host" who is "young and vigorous, with a playful attitude" - led the orchestra in a highly-anticipated opening with Broadway favorites by beloved duo Rodgers and Hammerstein. The performance featured guest artists Aaron Lazar, Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, along with Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA and New York Theatre Ballet. The program included classics from Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.
