Broadway and US television stars Lea Salonga (Gloria Suzuki), George Takei (old Sam Omura), Telly Leung (young Sam Omura), Allie Trim (Hannah Campbell), Michael K. Lee (James Omura), Paolo Montalban (Ben Chin/Mike Masaoka), Christine Toy Johnson (Kimiko Omura), Alan Ariano (Tatsuo Omura) and Jason Tam (Frankie Suzuki) led two public staged readings of 'American Idiot' associate producers Lorenzo Thione and Jay Kuo's Broadway bound musical 'Allegiance' on Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Julia Miles Theatre, 424 W55th St. New York, NY. BroadwayWorld.com has been covering the new Asian American play's different stages of development since its private staged reading in Los Angeles, CA last year.

Tony-award winning actress Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) and television and film icon George Takei (Star Trek, Heroes) will return to portray the roles of Gloria Suzuki and Old Sam Omura in a developmental reading of the new Broadway-bound musical, Allegiance, on October 25th at the Julia Miles Theatre in New York City. Telly Leung (Flower Drum Song, Pacific Overture, Wicked, Rent) and Allie Trimm (13, Bye Bye Birdie) also star. Allegiance is produced by Lorenzo Thione and Sing Out, Louise! Productions.

The benefit will be held at Christ & Saint Stephen's Church at 8 pm.

The event is to feature the talents of Donna McKechnie, Mary Beth Peil, Paige Davis, Will Chase, Aaron Lazar, Felicia Finley, Dan Reichard, Christiane Noll, Robert Petkoff, Steven Goldsmith, Shonn Wiley, Michael Cunio, and Michael Ingersoll.

The National Entertainment Fund for the Cultural Arts (NEFCA) and event Co-Chair Michael Steinhardt presented the 6th Annual Broadway Purim Shpiel at the Hudson Theatre on Monday, March 1st, 2010. For one night only, stars from Broadway's biggest hit shows joined together for the Broadway Purim Shpiel, a comedic retelling of the Purim story. All proceeds from the NEFCA production will benefit The Birthright Israel Foundation, an organization dedicated to sending young Jews from across the world to Israel.

Tony Award winner Lea Salonga and television and film actor George Takei starred in the by invitation only NYC staged reading of new American musical ALLEGIANCE (produced by Lorenzo Thione and Sing Out, Louise! Productions) held Monday, February 22, 2010 at Playwrights Horizon.

It has only been a few short months since new American musical, ALLEGIANCE, had its first staged reading in Los Angeles, California. Its original stars, Lea Salonga ('Miss Saigon,' 'Flower Drum Song') and George Takei ('Heroes,' 'Star Trek'), accompanied by the musical's creators, new cast members and artistic staff, are now bringing ALLEGIANCE to New York City for its second staged reading on Monday, February 22, 2010.
