Amazon's hit television show, MOZART IN THE JUNGLE kicks off its second season on December 30, 2015. The show follows a fictional (albeit, based in reality) orchestra in New York led by the exciting and controversial Rodrigo de Souza (Gael Garcia Bernal) loosely based on LA Philharmonic conductor, Gustavo Dudamel. The show is based on Blair Tindall's novel of the same name of her experiences with professional classical music in New York and San Francisco.
I had the fortune of speaking with Ms. Tindall about her transition from musician to author to TV consultant.
Based on the critically acclaimed memoir by Blair Tindall, Mozart in the Jungle is a half-hour comedic drama that looks at finding yourself and finding love while conquering the music world of New York City. Returning to the series are stars Gael Garcia Bernal (Rosewater) as maestro Rodrigo, Lola Kirke (Mistress America) as young oboist Hailey, Saffron Burrows (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as worldly cellist Cynthia, Malcolm McDowell (The Mentalist) as former conductor Thomas and Bernadette Peters (Smash) as board chairwoman Gloria. The second season of Mozart in the Jungle is executive produced by Roman Coppola (Moonrise Kingdom), Jason Schwartzman (The Darjeeling Limited), and Paul Weitz (About a Boy).

Amazon Studios just celebrated the premiere of its highly-anticipated dramatic comedy series, Mozart in the Jungle. Mozart in the Jungle draws back the curtain at the New York Symphony, where artistic dedication and creativity collide with mind games, politicking and survival instincts. Based on the critically acclaimed memoir Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs & Classical Music by Blair Tindall, the series is seen through the eyes of a young oboist, Hailey (Kirke), who tries to navigate through the egos and eccentricities of a world renowned orchestra, and new conductor Rodrigo (Bernal), an enfant terrible whose PASSION for music threatens the plans of the orchestra's old guard.
