SAG-AFTRA Announces Escalation Of #StrikeBBH Campaign, Pickets Commercial Shoot

In a clear sign that its #StrikeBBH campaign has escalated to a new phase, SAG-AFTRA members are picketing outside a Brentwood residence this week, after learning that struck ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Inc. (BBH) is filming a commercial for their client Samsung at the location. The shoot continues through the weekend.

WBUR Employees Vote To Recognize SAG-AFTRA As Their Union

Today, staff at WBUR in Boston voted overwhelmingly to recognize SAG-AFTRA as their union with 96 percent voting in favor. The election was conducted today by the National Labor Relations Board. The victory allows them to move forward to negotiate a first contract. The new bargaining unit will cover the public media professionals who create content for all areas of the station, including those working in the news department, on the digital team, on Here and Now, Radio Boston, On Point, Only a Game, on podcasts and in the production departments.

90210, A Six-Episode Event Series, To Air on FOX with Six Original Stars

Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling, the original stars of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” the groundbreaking teen drama that defined Southern California life, are set to return to FOX, the network they called home for the entire decade of the 1990s, in a six-episode event series, 90210. Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler (“90210,” “Awkward”) will write and executive-produce 90210. The series is scheduled to air Summer 2019.

Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston Sign Statement of Support For Strike Against Ad Agency BBH

SAG-AFTRA members Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston and Regina King are throwing their support behind the union's #StrikeBBH campaign to ensure fair wages and safe sets for actors who work on commercials. They join Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Scarlett Johansson, Octavia Spencer, Sterling K. Brown and Alec Baldwin in supporting the strike, issuing a joint statement that reads, "We stand united with our fellow performers who work in commercials, who seek fair wages, safe sets, access to health care and a meaningful pension. It's time for advertisers and agencies like Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Inc. (BBH) to do the right thing. When you make an ad, make it union." The ad agency is attempting to illegally abandon its union contract with SAG-AFTRA after almost 20 years.

SAG-AFTRA Launches Podcast; First Two Episodes Available Now

SAG-AFTRA today announced the launch of the SAG-AFTRA podcast. Hosted by President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White, each episode features in-depth interviews, industry insights and compelling stories affecting the entertainment and media industry. The podcast soft launched in January with the introductory episode "Making a Revolution." The next two episodes are available now with subsequent releases available every other Tuesday.
