The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 44th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), April 16-21, 2012. In January and February of this year, these artists from eight regions presented their outstanding work and were selected to travel to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in National Festival events taking place at the Kennedy Center.

Sunset Boulevard previews on Tuesday September 14th, with press night on Friday, September 17th, running through October, 2010. Tickets start at $43, with student and under 30 discounts available. Rush tickets are $20. Show times are 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, with a 2:00 pm Sunday matinee and alternating Saturday 2:00 pm and Sunday 7:30 pm performances. Producer Daryl Roth has announced this year's recipient of the 2009 Creative Spirit Award: LAByrinth Theater Company member Scott Hudson. The Creative Spirit Award was founded 13 years ago to celebrate gifted theatre artists and provide them with support as they develop new work in an artistic residency.

The original off-Broadway cast of the musical FIVE COURSE LOVE (Minetta Lane Theatre, 2005) went into the studios on January 9th and 10th in New York City to record the show's cast album. FIVE COURSE LOVE, with book, music and lyrics by Gregg Coffin, tells the story of five entangled encounters with love in five different restaurants. The scores varied musical styles reflect the cuisines of the different eateries: Country & Western, Italian, German cabaret, Mexican and 50's Doo Wop.

Arena Stage presents the world premiere of Daniel Beaty's Resurrection, a drama with a unique blend of music, poetry and dance. A co-production with Connecticut's Hartford Stage, Resurrection explores the interwoven lives of six African-American men struggling to make a living and to make their lives worth living. Beaty dazzled Arena audiences last summer with sold-out performances of his award-winning solo show Emergency (formerly Emergence-SEE!). He now returns to Arena with his first ensemble production-a talented cast of six actors led by director Oz Scott (director of Broadway's original for colored girls... and the Goodman Theatre's recent premiere The Ballad of Emmett Till). The production harmonizes with an innovative score by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), a Haitian-American composer who blends classical violin with piano and bass. To keep the interplay between text and score dynamic, Roumain's original score will be musically styled live each performance by his collaborator Elan Vytal a.k.a. DJ Scientific. Resurrection runs August 29-October 5, 2008 at Arena Stage in Crystal City. The press opening performance is Thursday, September 4 at 8:00pm.

Playwrights Horizons has announced a cast change for the New York premiere of Dead Man's Cell Phone, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House, Eurydice). Drama Desk Award winner and Playwrights Horizons alum T. Ryder Smith will assume the role of Gordon (the 'dead man' of the title) beginning Tuesday, February 19.
