Elizabeth Kendall, a dance and culture critic as well as a professor at the New School, presented a lecture/dance demonstration based on her 2013 published book, Balanchine and the Lost Muse: Revolution and the making of a Choreographer, at the 92nd St. Y.

The Celebrity Series of Boston announced its 2014-2015 season today, marking 76 years of bringing the world's greatest performing artists to Boston. The season opens on Sunday, October 5, 2014 with Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini in recital. In total, the 2014-2015 season will include 46 music, dance and entertainment engagements. On Wednesday, March 12, violinist Philippe Quint was awarded the Ambassador of Arts Award at the 16th Anniversary Gala Banquet of the Gateways Organization celebrating The Brownstone Experience. The banquet, held in the Delegates Dining Room at the United Nations, was attended by distinguished elected officials, world business leaders, dignitaries and over 400 prominent guests, also honoring fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin and Virginie and Mark Cohen, CEOs of Stonehouse Capital Management. Unfortunately, Quint was not able to be present at the Award ceremony. On the way to the United Nations, Quint's taxi was hit by another vehicle running a red light and Quint had to be hospitalized. Fortunately there were no serious injuries and he is scheduled to appear next week with the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

Celebrity Series of Boston is holding its first calls this weekend for Le Grand Continental, the most infectious, contemporary, community line dance ever imagined. Following on the success of Street Pianos Boston, Celebrity Series is looking for 150+ people of all ages to help them cap their 75th anniversary celebration with Le Grand Continental-a weekend of community dance performance that will be held May 16-18 in Copley Square Park.

The New York Philharmonic, in collaboration with Juilliard, presents a farewell chamber music recital in honor of Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow, longtime Juilliard faculty member who is retiring from Juilliard and the New York Philharmonic at the end of the current season. The concert on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. in Alice Tully Hall features Mr. Dicterow with his fellow New York Philharmonic musicians and guests, most of whom also have a strong Juilliard connection, and includes specially selected works by John Corigliano, Korngold, and Dvorak that reflect Mr. Dicterow's career in both New York and Los Angeles.
