Photo Flash: Lindsay Mendez and More in NAMT's 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals

The 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals, presented by the National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT), kicked off with THE 46TH MINUTE, a concert hosted by Lindsay Mendez and featuring performances by Heidi Blickenstaff, Doreen Montalvo, Mamie Parris, Bryce Ryness, and more. Musical presentations started October 23 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) and included Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton. BY THE WATER Begins Performances Tonight Off-Broadway

By The Water, the new play by Sharyn Rothstein, directed by Hal Brooks, begins performances tonight, November 4 at 7:30PM as part of The Studio at Stage II -- Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center -- Stage II (131 West 55th Street). The limited engagement will open on Tuesday, November 18.

Freestyle & Dominion Pictures Pick Up MR. PIP with Hugh Laurie

Freestyle Releasing, Freestyle Digital Media (FDM) and Dominion Pictures announced today that they have acquired theatrical and all DVD/VOD rights to MR. PIP, a film from Andrew Adamson (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, SHREK) based on the best-selling novel by Lloyd Jones. The drama brings “House MD” superstar Hugh Laurie to the big screen, alongside up-and-coming sensation Xzannjah Matsi. Executive produced by Tim Coddington, James Dean, Daniel Revers and Timothy White, the film will debut in limited theaters and on all digital platforms on November 7, 2014.

BWW Recap: DANCING WITH THE STARS Busts a Spooky Move for Halloween

Halloween came a little early this week on DANCING WITH THE STARS. On this seventh week of the reality competition show, ABC claimed viewers could expect a 'thrilling spooktacular night filled with scary and chilling performances.' Usually scary things freak me out, but was entertained. With the Halloween special, it is only fitting that DANCING's scariest judge returned...and in fashion during the show's spooky 'Heads Will Roll' opening number. I thought that was very clever and cute.

DANCING PROS: LIVE! Coming to MPAC, 11/21

The world's finest dancers will battle it out live and the audience will choose the winner when Dancing Pros Live! comes to the Mayo Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 8 pm. Tickets are $39-79.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Gallery Aferro Team for 'Artist Box' Initiative

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Gallery Aferro will partner for Artist Box, a unique initiative that will bring artists from the Newark-based art gallery to NJSO performances in Newark throughout the 2014-15 season and culminate in May with a Gallery Aferro exhibit of works inspired by the artists' concert experiences.
