The Jazz Ministry of Saint Peter's Church - the Jazz Church - announces that All Nite Soul Honoree and NEA Jazz Master Frank Wess will be interviewed on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Noon on WBGO 88.3 FM (www.wbgo.org ) by Rhonda Hamilton and on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 7 PM on WKCR 89.9 FM (www.wkcr.org ) by Sharif Abdus-Salaam.

Joe Chambers et al. Perform at UNCW's Department of Music Faculty Showcase, 10/9

University of North Carolina at Wilmington's (UNCW) Department of Music faculty will share the spotlight with appearances by John Rack, timpani, Robert Nathanson, guitar, Barry David Salwen, piano, Pawel Izdebski, bass, Nancy King, soprano and Distinguished Professor and jazz legend Joe Chambers, drum set. Carly Ozard Performs Tribute To Freddie Mercury at The Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko 10/22-10/23

Critically-acclaimed musical theater singer and comedic cabaret artist Carly Ozard presents her new cabaret show Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute To Freddie Mercury. Carly Ozard will be 'Queen For A Day', paying homage to her musical idol, and sharing historic and unknown facts about Mercury's public and personal lifestyle. Ms. Ozard new cabaret show will showcase popular songs from Queen's extensive repertoire, as well as perform solo work written by Freddie Mercury without Queen. Rare musical material and collaborations will be featured in this tribute to the rock tenor who flaunted his four-octave range, charmed his audiences, and lived his 45 years to the fullest. Ozard will be joined on stage by a three-piece combo along with special guest star Katya Smirnoff-Skyy. Musical Direction is by Joe Wicht. Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute To Freddie Mercury will be performed for Two-Nights Only, Fri. & Sat. Oct. 22 & 23, 2010 - 10:30 pm at The Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko - 222 Mason St. (at O'Farrell St.) in SF 94102. Tickets are $20 + a two drink minimum.

Kelsey Theatre Presents CHESS, 10/15-24

A chess game between international masters takes on larger meaning in the award-winning 1980s rock opera 'Chess,' coming to Mercer County College's Kelsey Theatre in October. Pierrot Productions presents this cult classic of love, loss and betrayal Fridays, Oct. 15 and 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 16 and 23 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 17 and 24 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening performance on Oct. 15.
