Bloom & Wolf's INSOMNIA: A NEW MUSICAL to Play MITF This Summer

The Midtown International Theater Festival (MITF) presents Insomnia with music and lyrics by Charles Bloom and book by Theo Wolf. Ovi Vargas directs a cast of seven, including Philip Skinner, Jesse Manocherian*, Anette Michelle Sanders*, Lauren Lukacek*, Chris Brick*, Tyler Milliron*, and Dennis Holland* (Bway: The Music Man, Peter Pan). Insomnia is being staged at the Main Stage, 312 West 36th Street in New York City from August 2-7, 2016.

NewArts Announces Its Summer 2016 Season: Featuring Nearly 200 Newtown Area Children

NewArts, a nonprofit theatrical production organization in Newtown, CT, is producing its sixth and seventh shows for its summer, 2016 season incorporating nearly 200 children from the Newtown area onstage, backstage and in the orchestra as a continuation of its mission to use the performing arts to promote healing and strength. NewArts was founded by local parent, Michael Baroody, M.D. and brings in a talented team of nearly 20 theatre professionals including Broadway-level directors, choreographers, music directors, designers, producers, and technicians to guide the children in this endeavor of creativity, collaboration and community.

Theatre Three Announces Partnership with Deaf Action Center

Theatre Three announces their partnership with the Deaf Action Center to begin a series of interpreted performances for patrons that are deaf or hard of hearing. The partnership will begin a process wherein one performance of each production in both Theatre Three's main stage season and Theatre Too's season will have BEI/RID certified interpreters in place to sign the performance.

Freddie Fox and Richard Madden to Share Lead in Kenneth Branagh's ROMEO AND JULIET

Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company today announced that Freddie Fox will be joining the company of Romeo and Juliet, sharing the role of Romeo with Richard Madden. This is to allow Richard Madden sufficient time for his injured ankle to continue to heal and because his doctors have prescribed rest between performances.

National Theatre Live to Broadcast THREEPENNY OPERA and DEEP BLUE SEA This Fall

National Theatre Live has announced international broadcasts of the Rufus Norris' National Theatre production of The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, in a new adaptation by Simon Stephens on Thursday, September 22, 2016; and, Carrie Cracknell's acclaimed National Theatre production of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea on Thursday, October 6, 2016.

Actor's Express has extended its production of Company through September 11, 2016. The modern take on Stephen Sondheim's game-changing musical comedy is set to open Actor's Express 29th Season on July 30.

Amigos del REP Announces 2016 Schedule

Amigos del REP and San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) have announced the schedule of their free reading series by Latino/a artists for the remainder of 2016. The six performances in San Diego REP's Lyceum Stage and Lyceum Space theatres include the variety show "Club Cafe" produced by John Padilla and Dave Rivas; "King Liz" written by Fernanda Coppel (ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder") and directed by Elsa Martinez; the politically driven "The Sweetheart Deal" written and directed by Center Theatre Group's Associate Artistic Director Diane Rodriguez; "El Cipitio," a collaboration from original Culture Clash members Herbert Siguenza and Ric Salinas withRandy Ertll, directed by Siguenza and based on Ertll's novel "The Lives and Times of El Cipitio;" the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration "Historias Tenebrosas" produced by Dave Rivas; and a yet to be announced family-friendly holiday show presented in December at the Downtown Central Library, directed by Bryant Hernandez.
