What is there left to do when you have one bullet, one granola bar, and one zombie blocking the only exit? That's the dilemma facing these two survivors of the zombie apocalypse. Having narrowly escaped certain death it appears their luck has finally run out. With the zombie slowly nearing, they contemplate survival, fear, humanness, and their relationship with each other. Unique in its use of narrow staging and single setting to convey the feeling of claustrophobia and impending doom, DEAD END follows in the suspenseful and darkly comedic tradition of playwrights such as Martin McDonagh and David Ives.

On Monday evening August 22 An Evening of Classic Broadway returned to Rockwell Table and Stage for another resoundingly superb and downright mirthful show. Headed by Brad Ellis and Dianne Fraser, this show really grows on you. I love talent, and you can definitely find it here in abundance. On the bill this time around were of course ringmaster Ellis, ingenious as always with his delicious banter at the piano, and Fraser, who manages to do it all, even adjusting microphones and assisting with the props. She's amazing! Guest singers included Joshua Finkel, Zachary Ford, Susan Edwards Martin, Barrett Foa, Christina Saffran and daughter Emma Ashford and last but never least the inimitable Julie Garnye.

'Lovely, never, never change. Keep your breathless charm. Won't you please arrange it? 'Cause I love you.' Those glorious Dorothy Fields penned lyrics to Jerome Kern's evergreen 'The Way You Look Tonight' bubbled through my head during Kilowatts Dance Theatre's joyful performance of Jaime Shannon's 'Flights and Follys'. It was just a couple of swells dancing with their lady-friends to the type of tunes that Gram and Pops listened to when new; back when 'it weren't no sin' to revel in the unabashed sunshine of life. How wonderful to visit those times again.
