Brooklyn Art Song Society concludes its ambitious six-concert survey of British song with a program featuring the works of Benjamin Britten.

BASS continues its innovative new music series In Context at the Tenri Cultural Center on SaturdayApril 2nd, 2016. This year's featured composer is Scott Wheeler, hailed by Fanfare as “one of the freshest American voices.” The program features Mr. Wheeler's work alongside those by colleagues and mentors (Virgil Thomson and Judith Weir) and favorite classics (Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann). The program will include the world premiere of Ben Gunn. Soprano Elisabeth Marhsall, mezzo soprano Kate Maroney, tenor Brandon Snook, and baritone Steven Eddy join pianists Michael Brofman, Jocelyn Dueck, and Miori Sugiyama.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – British pianist Michael Roll returns to the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra after his 2012 debut, in the next set of Lexus Classic Series concerts at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 8pm.  Music Director José-Luis Novo will conduct the orchestra and Mr. Roll in Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor.  The concert will also feature Ludwig van Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 5 in B-flat Major.

March 4, 2016 (BOSTON, MA)—Boston Ballet's 52nd season continues with Kaleidoscope, a vibrant fusion of works by the most influential choreographic voices of the 20th century. The first of four works presented in this dynamic program is George Balanchine's Kammermusik No. 2, a “fascinating” and “unremitting” ballet, followed by the dazzling and technically demanding The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by William Forsythe that returns to Boston Ballet after a critically acclaimed Company premiere last season (Brian Seibert, The New York Times). Adding to the evening's exceptional program is the graceful Pas de Quatre by unsung choreographer Leonid Yakobson, a classically romantic work noted for its “distinctive movement sensibility” (Roslyn Sulcas,The New York Times). Concluding the program is Léonide Massine's colorful Gaîté Parisienne, an effervescent ballet that evokes Moulin Rouge and Paris in the early 1900s, and ends with an unforgettable can-can.  Kaleidoscope will run March 17–26, 2016 at the Boston Opera House. 

The 33rd season of the Schwabacher Debut Recitals continues on Sunday, March 20 at the new Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater with baritone Efraín Solís and pianist Robert Mollicone.

Seattle's Pacific Northwest Ballet under the artistic direction of Peter Boal returned to New York City Center in February 2016 with an 'All Balanchine' program on the 24th and 25th followed by a triple bill, 'Contemporary Innovations', on the 26th and 27th. The latter, which I saw on the 26th, featured works by two choreographers who had at one time worked with William Forsythe as members of Ballett Frankfurt and a third piece by Forsythe himself. Forsythe's protegees created pieces that harked back to his own reinvention of classical ballet, yet went further in that direction with strikingly individual styles. The PNB dancers, superbly trained and impeccably rehearsed, gave world-class performances in all three of the evening's offerings. In particular, Angelica Generosa was a shining presence with superb technique. She is currently a member of the corps de ballet, but I see a promotion in her future.

CDI/Concert Dance, Inc. returns to Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), 3701 West Bryn Mawr, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Ruth Page Dance Series with A World of Dance, Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m.

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces the programming for the 2016-2017 season at the Boston Opera House, to begin in October. The 53rd season will launch with Le Corsaire, a historically significant work in the world of ballet that originally premiered in Paris in 1856, followed by Mikko Nissinen's "dazzling, dreamy" The Nutcracker (Karen Campbell, The Boston Globe). The season continues with the North American Company premiere of William Forsythe's ARTIFACT, "a work that definitely shows this choreographer as the most influential practitioner of the art form since Balanchine" (Roslyn Sulcas, The New York Times). In April 2017, Marius Petipa's quintessential The Sleeping Beauty will return with soaring music by Tchaikovsky. The season will also include two mixed repertory programs with works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Ji?i Kylian, and Alexander Ekman, as well as a world premiere by Resident Choreographer Jorma Elo. Additionally, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty will offer Boston Ballet School students the unique opportunity to appear in Company productions.

Festival Ballet Providence's (FBP) 38th Season continues with the final program of its popular U p Close on Hope series, presented in the intimate setting of the FBP Black Box Theatre. Season after season, audiences continue to be drawn to the unique perspective of the venue and the provocative works presented there. This program ­ a double­bill evening showcasing back­to­back one­act world premieres of rich, passionate storytelling ­ runs over two weekends, March 4­13, 2016. Tickets are $50 and include an intermission reception with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants. Up Close on Hope, Program 2 is presented by T Z Studio.

On Site Opera announces a partnership with The Atlanta Opera's Discoveries Series to bring Mozart's The Secret Gardener (La finta giardiniera) to life in a new site-specific co-production. Performances, which will take place in the spring of 2017, mark a bi-city first for both companies. Written by an 18-year-old Mozart, The Secret Gardener is a story of love, madness, and redemption that unfolds in the lush setting of a beautiful garden.

  On Sunday, February 14th, 2016 BASS returns to the Brooklyn Public Library to present a program featuring songs on texts by William Shakespeare. 

The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc., a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, will present WARM MUSIC ON A WINTER AFTERNOON, the first of two concerts of its 2015-2016 season on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

?Pennsylvania Ballet and Artistic Director Angel Corella will take audiences on an emotional journey with four different choreographers in the upcoming performance of Strength and Longing. Nacho Duato's Without Words, Jerome Robbins' NY Export, Opus Jazz, Justin Peck's Chutes and Ladders, and Christopher Wheeldon's For Four will be featured this weekend, February 4-7, at The Merriam Theater, supported by ALGER.

San Francisco Opera Center and the Merola Opera Program present the 33rd season of the Schwabacher Debut Recitals. This season, the recitals move to the state-of-the-art Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater in San Francisco Opera's new Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera, located on the fourth floor of the Veterans Building (401 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco). The February 28 series-opener—Ports of Call with New York Festival of Song Artistic Director Steven Blier and 2016 San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows Amina Edris, Edward Nelson and Brad Walker—marks the inaugural public performance in the Taube Atrium Theater, which boasts the innovative Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system. The 5:30 p.m. Sunday recital series continues on March 6 with bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch and pianist John Churchwell; March 20 with baritone Efraín Solís accompanied by pianist Robert Mollicone; and April 24 with baritone Kihun Yoon and pianist Mark Morash.

This year the Vancouver Chamber Choir's remarkable National Conductors' Symposium concert THE MAESTRO'S ART focuses on the music of the Masters - Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Wagner tonight, January 23 at 8 p.m. at Ryerson United Church.

Toronto –   The Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio, Canada's premier training program for young opera professionals, welcomes seven outstanding new artists for the 2016/2017 season: sopranos Danika Lorènand Samantha Pickett, mezzo-sopranos Emily D'Angelo, Lauren Eberwein and Megan Quick, baritone Bruno Roy, and pianist Stéphane Mayer. The seven artists join the Ensemble Studio in August 2016 and become part of an illustrious program that, since its inception in 1980, has launched the careers of over 215 Canadian singers, opera coaches, mainstage directors and conductors.
