THE DEAD LEGEND to Make New York Premiere at NYMF, 7/12-13

NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL (NYMF) and the UNIVERSITY OF GREAT FALLS (UGF) are pleased to announce the New York premiere production of Michael Gilboe's, in collaboration with the students of The University of Great Falls, THE DEAD LEGEND, directed by MICHAEL GILBOE. THE DEAD LEGEND will play three performances only as part NYMF at the PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street). Performances are Friday, July, 12th at 4:30 pm and 8:00 pm and Saturday, July, 13th at 12pm.

QUEEN OF THE BEATNIKS: THE SONGS OF JUDY HENSKE to Play The Cutting Room, 7/3

The Show Goes On Productions (TSGO) is proud to present another theatrical concert in its ROCK TONIC Series, July 3rd, 2013 at 8:00pm EST. QUEEN OF THE BEATNIKS: THE SONGS OF JUDY HENSKE, written and performed by MEREDITH DIMENNA under the musical direction of JASON BINNICK will be at The Cutting Room, 44 E. 32nd Street, at Park Avenue. Hollywood Fringe Spotlight - Part I: EXORCISTIC: THE ROCK MUSICAL PARODY EXPERIMENT and THE ROAD TO HIGH STREET

The third annual Hollywood Fringe Festival, Hollywood's fearless celebration of the emerging arts is back June 13 - 30, 2013, and over the next couple of weeks I'll be featuring some of the musical productions hoping to entice audiences to see their latest work. First up are Michael Shaw Fisher and Exorcistic: The Rock Musical Parody Experiment, and Andrew Potter's The Road to High Street.

Kyle August Lind Presents FREAKING OUT: The Process Art of Kyle August Lind, 1965-2012

This Saturday evening,artist Kyle August Lind makes his return to Los Angeles with an exhibition of meticulous 'process' pieces created over the last 50 years. A prominent figure of LA's legendary 1960s Freak scene, Lind's elaborate and intricately detailed works reveal a deep-rooted spirituality and are imbued with the energy and liberation of the hippie movement. The works will be shown at PYO Gallery LA in downtown Los Angeles through April 20th.

The Never Pedestrian Asphalt Orchestra of NYC Comes to The Alden, 4/6

New York City's Asphalt Orchestra will lay concrete in The Alden in McLean when they bring their street band sounds indoors at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. Tickets are $25, $18 for MCC tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

SKETCHES FROM THE NATIONAL LAMPOON World Premiere Plays Hayworth Theatre, Now thru 3/17

National Lampoon will present the World Premiere of SKETCHES FROM THE NATIONAL LAMPOON, conceived and produced by Matty Simmons, with original songs by Richard Levinson and directed by Pat Towne. SKETCHES FROM THE NATIONAL LAMPOON will begin previews tonight, February 7 at 8pm; will open on Friday, February 15 at 8pm and run through Sunday, March 17 at the Hayworth Theatre, 2511 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Society of Composers National Conference Set for February 13-16

The Society of Composers (SCI) National Conference will be held at Ohio State February 13-16, under the auspices of the School of Music's Contemporary Music Festival. The festival will feature 100 new works of music in 12 concerts over the three and a half days, many of which are world premieres. The festival also will welcome guest composers, performers, and scholars from all over the United States, panel sessions on new music, and performances by Ohio State faculty and students.

Shuggie Otis, People Get Ready and More Join City Parks Foundation's SUMMERSTAGE SHOWCASE Tonight

City Parks Foundation has announced the SummerStage Showcase, a special event taking place at the Highline Ballroom tonight, January 10, 2013. In partnership with Santa Monica's Twilight Concerts at the Pier, the SummerStage Showcase will feature R&B legend Shuggie Otis, Brooklyn's own People Get Ready, soul singer Ofei, as well as gospel singer Joshua Nelson and DJ Kool Herc for a night of performances that will offer audiences a preview of the upcoming 2013 season of SummerStage.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Welcomes Randy Edelman, 1/27

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) welcomes distinguished UC alumnus Randy Edelman (CCM '69, HonDoc '04) back to Corbett Auditorium for one unforgettable evening beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. A prominent singer, songwriter, arranger and film scorer, Edelman will bring his film scores to life during this special event concert featuring CCM's acclaimed Philharmonia Orchestra andJazz Ensemble.

The Grand Wazoo and Other Delights Present A Tribute to Frank Zappa Tonight

Today, Dec. 29th, at the Park West, 322 W. Armitage, Chicago, just days after Frank Zappa's 72nd birthday, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra (CJO) presents an adventurous tribute to this great American musical genius. The show, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will feature the 15-piece CJO along with saxophonist Ernie Watts, who was in Zappa's band for the original recording of The Grand Wazoo. Electric violinist Mark Wood (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and electric bassist Dave Morgan, who created the arrangements for this show, are also featured. Conducting the performance will be CJO artistic director Jeff Lindberg.

FRANK ZAPPA PLAYS THE MUSIC OF FRANK ZAPPA Tribute Album Now Available

The ZAPPA FAMILY TRUST honors the American Composer's "Signature Guitar Compositions" on iTunes. Released on this year's anniversary of FZ's death (December 4), FRANK ZAPPA PLAYS THE MUSIC OF FRANK ZAPPA--A MEMORIAL TRIBUTE features the classic recordings of "Watermelon In Easter Hay," "Black Napkins" and "Zoot Allures," as well as the earliest versions from the Vault at the time of the original CD release in 1996 (still available from Barfko-Swill). It was one final wish of the Composer that these not be performed by anyone else; Dweezil Zappa is the sole exception with respect to the latter two works.
