The newly minted Drama Desk nominees met the press today and BroadwayWorld.com was there to meet all of them! 

Producer Antonio R. Marion announced today that Tony nominee and Olivier Award-winner Daniel Evans will direct the Broadway-Bound epic new original stage play, Sherlock Holmes, by British writing team of Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel. The project was originally announced in late 2014.

Just In! The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2015-16 season in 25 categories.

The Syracuse University Department of Drama packs three musicals, a wild comedy, a classic Shaw, and a never-before-produced contemporary comedy into a season full of surprises and infrequently performed theatrical gems. Beginning with the musical Nine, the 2016/2017 season includes Laura and the Sea, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins (co-produced with Syracuse Stage), The King Stag, Major Barbara, and From Berlin to Broadway With Kurt Weill: A Musical Voyage.

The announcements will be made by Tony nominee Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon; HBO's Girls) and Tony Award winner Patina Miller (Pippin; CBS' Madam Secretary). The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the fourth and final time this season to determine the eligibility of nine Broadway productions for the 2016 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Tony Awards Administration Committee met a total of four times throughout the 2015-2016 season to decide the eligibility for the 70th Annual Tony Awards.

Favorite guest Frank Langella returns to THEATER TALK to discuss his spellbinding, critically acclaimed performance as André, a man in the early-to-mid-stages of dementia, in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Florian Zeller's The Father, directed by Doug Hughes.  Revealing that he's “never been so frightened of a part…we're all frightened of this; it terrifies; there's no way back from this disease,” he also tells co-hosts Michael Riedel of the New York Post and Susan Haskins that his brother is in the early stages of the disorder.

Today, The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye has confirmed that former HARRY POTTER star Harry Melling will join Jackson in the Deborah Warner-helmed production as 'Edgar.' Previews are currently scheduled to begin 25 October.

The 2016 Drama League Award Nominees for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award were just announced this morning at Sardi's, by Aladdin stars Adam Jacobs, Courtney Reed and James Monroe Iglehart. Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.)  Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.
