BWW Reviews: Taking Time to Understand That It's NOT ALWAYS A PARENT
by Amanda Finn
- May 5, 2015
It happens faster than one can fathom. A child acts out in a public space - one automatically looks to the parent's reaction. A slew of questions arise: does that happen often? What are you going to do about this? Why aren't you more upset? Why did you even bring your child here?
BWW Reviews: Madison Needs More BETA BLOCKERS
by Amanda Finn
- Feb 19, 2015
Every once in a while there is a performance that is completely open ended. Where every audience member walks away with a different sense of what happened, what it meant, and why it mattered. That is the case with a series of scenes entitled Beta Blockers, produced by Left of Left Center at TAPIT/New Works this past weekend and one last time on Wednesday the 18th.
BWW Reviews: Oscar Wilde, Three Trials, and The Bartell

Moises Kaufman is not a household name- a playwright, teacher, and creator of a new wave of theatre perhaps, but unknown to the majority of audiences. This journalist is particularly fond of the work of Mr. Kaufman and has difficulty finding performances of his masterpieces.
Why?
Moises Kaufman crafts works of theatre that few have the courage or talent to take on. Actors switching characters off and on throughout the production is a feat of Kaufman's teaching entitled Tectonic Theatre. It is an art in itself and many directors do not want to take the time to tackle his works.

by Robert Diamond
- Sep 24, 2012
Given all the ups and downs the music industry has experienced in the past three decades, it's remarkable to find anyone who still retains a sense of allegiance or loyalty. Master Conguero, Band Leader and Latin Jazz Legend Poncho Sanchez is the exception. Thirty years ago, his close friend, multi-instrumentalist jazz icon Cal Tjader recommended he sign with Carl Jefferson's Concord Records. Tjader told him that Jefferson was looking for new talent and he highly recommended Sanchez. Jefferson gave Poncho a one record deal with his Concord Picante imprint, and the rest is Latin Jazz history. Thirty years and 26 albums later, Sanchez, whose Live in Hollywood recording is set for digital release today, September 25, 2012 on Concord Picante, is still with the label; even though he had plenty of opportunity to leave in the late '90s. (There will be a physical release October 30, 2012.)
