The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC has announced that students from the beyondDANCE program have been recognized and won awards from the United States Tournament of Dance Competition for their ensembles "Colorblind," "Candyman" and "Don't You Worry Child. beyondDANCE students won three awards in the state-wide dance competition which are High Gold for 'Colorblind' in the Large Group Contemporary category, High Gold for 'Candyman' in the Large Group Tap category, and High Silver for 'Don't You Worry Child' in the Large Group Jazz category. beyondDANCE students will compete this July in the upcoming national competition in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Houston audiences will recognize him from last season's production of CAMELOT, produced by Theatre Under the Stars, where he played Lancelot.

EMS & Project Cicero Will Partner to Bring Books to Students

The Elisabeth Morrow School (EMS) in Englewood, New Jersey will once again partner with Project Cicero New Jersey and will host the annual book drive that will benefit public school students from under-resourced schools in New Jersey. Approximately 200 teachers from various districts will attend the book drive that will be held at The Elisabeth Morrow School Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00AM. Over 200 teachers will be able to select books to take back to their classrooms for their students. Project Cicero accepts new and gently used hardcover and paperback books for children (pre-K through grade 12) and young adults. Project Cicero does not accept textbooks, adult books, library discards or out of date non-fiction/reference books. All teachers who would like to benefit from the drive must pre-register by emailing projectciceronnj@gmail.com.

BALAM Dance Theatre (BALAM), a non-profit professional dance theatre company, returns to New Jersey to premiere its new Out & About series program, Dancing Warriors, a dance presentation featuring Balinese, Japanese Noh, French Baroque, and Spanish dances, as well martial arts and period fencing demonstrations. The program includes an audience participation segment.

Philip Anastassiou, of Tenafly, NJ, was selected to be the featured teen playwright in Stage Scene & Song's 2014 Spring Play Development Program. Teens 13-19 interested in directing, stage management, performance, and design can register now to be a part of the birth and development of Anastassiou's new play, Of Misanthropy, culminating in a NYC Staged Reading in April. 3sPA Program Leaders will oversee the practical and creative development while training participants in the practical and creative aspects of putting up such a Staged Reading.

The Bergen County Players (BCP) of Oradell will ring out 2013 with the final five performances of the enchanting toe-tapping musical Aladdin, directed by Lynne Lupfer. The final five shows will take place at the Little Firehouse Theatre on Kinderkamack Road in Oradell on December 20 at 8:00 PM and December 21 and 22 at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM each day. This will be the last chance for children of all ages to follow Aladdin's quest to capture the heart of the beautiful princess Mei-Ling, taking him on a magical journey from rags to riches and featuring not one, but two fantastical genies! Elisabeth Morrow School to Partner with Project Cicero NNJ for Book Drive

The Elisabeth Morrow School (EMS) in Englewood, New Jersey will once again partner with Project Cicero NNJ to host a book drive that will benefit local schoolteachers from under-resourced schools in Northern New Jersey. This past March, in its inaugural year, Project Cicero NNJ collected approximately 35,000 books from individuals and families from 21 local schools to help supplement or create classroom libraries for teachers of the Englewood Public School District and Teach for America- Greater Newark. Approximately 200 teachers from those districts attended the book drive at The Elisabeth Morrow School held on March 9, 2013 and were able to select books to take back to their classrooms, thanks to the generous donation of boxes from Staples and Lowenstein Sandler LLP and a truck supplied by North Jersey Media Group.
