The National Park Service in partnership with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company presents the Ellis Island Asian American Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 19, 2019, with ceremony and performances starting at 12 noon at The Great Hall of Immigration at Ellis Island, located on the second floor of the main Ellis Island building. A full schedule of performances of one hour by nationally renowned artists and performers will celebrate the 2019 Asian American Heritage Month with the National Park Service.  The festival will showcase traditional and contemporary Asian American Music and Dance, with notable performing artists from the community in New York and New Jersey including the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, Kindling Sindaw (Philipines), Vietnam Heritage Center, the Kalagangothri Foundation (India), and H?lau Hula O Na Mele '?ina O Hawaii'(Hawaii).

BALAM Dance Theatre (BALAM) premieres its new Out & About series program, Dances of Love: East and West, in Fort Lee, New Jersey.  This entertaining, family friendly program will be presented at the Fort Lee Public Library, located at 320 Main Street, on Sunday, April 28 from 2:00-3:00 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.

Fort Lee and New York -National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $27 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Included in this announcement is a Challenge America grant of $10,000 to the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company to support the creation of the Company's production Celebrating the Year of the Pig. Challenge America grants support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations-those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability.

Steve and Kim Taylor are producing bean-to-bar chocolate at their factory, Taylor Made Chocolate, in Chester, Virginia, a southern suburb of Richmond, Virginia. Their chocolate shop is located at Rivers Bend South Shopping Center, near the intersection of Rt. 10 and I-95, just west of Hopewell VA, where they hope to capture the attention of the 84,000 vehicles a day that pass through the area.

Opera legend Lucine Amara, Artistic Director of the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, announces the winners and the finalists selected in the company's 30th Annual International Vocal Competition.  Baritone Gerardo de la Torre from Mexico and soprano Joowon Chae from New York tied for first place and will share a $3,000 award.  Tenor Tianchi Zhang of New Jersey was awarded third place and a $500 prize.  In May 2018, the international competition opened to singers of all ages worldwide.

New Jersey native and celebrity portrait photographer Timothy White has been honored with a nomination for the 2018 New Jersey Hall of Fame Awards. 

This fall, the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera opens with Norma on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.  The company presents Vincenzo Bellini's tragedia lirica opera set in ancient Rome at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey.

The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc., a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization based in the borough of Leonia, New Jersey, announces the launch of their 2018-2019 season.

Artistic Director Lucine Amara reminds vocalists of all ages worldwide to apply now to the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's 30th Annual International Vocal Competition.  The application deadline is October 18, 2018.  

BALAM Dance Theatre (BALAM), a New York City based ensemble contemporary world dance company, returns to Bergen County, New Jersey to debut its new Out & About series program, The Dancing Fan: An Icon from Spanish, Japanese, and Balinese Courts. The program features an eclectic repertoire of Balinese, Japanese, and Spanish songs and dances using fans.

The Adelphi Orchestra now in its 65th season of Music for All presents From Vienna with Love under the baton of Music Director & Conductor Richard Owen. The Concert features Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and exquisitely beautiful Korngold Violin Concerto.

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, the house opera company of the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), opens in September the Bring the Family to the Opera.  This well-received program introduces children and the extended family to live, fully staged performances of grand opera, as the composer intended.
