The evening includes the presentation of Lincoln Medals to actor James Earl Jones and the U.S. House of Representatives' longest-serving member, The Honorable John D. Dingell, whose extraordinary character, service, accomplishments and work reflect Lincoln's legacy of humanity, wisdom, eloquence and vision.
Music Theatre International (MTI) and iTheatrics recently joined First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House to support The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities' (PCAH) successful Turnaround Arts initiative, a program designed to help turn around low-performing schools, narrow the achievement gap, and increase student engagement through the arts. The program was celebrated at the White House with a special showcase of various schools from around the country who have benefitted from the initiative.

Although she was unable to attend, First Lady Michelle Obama did send a note which was read aloud by Julianne Moore after Ms. Moore made a toast to LaTanya. Samuel L. Jackson and Bart Freundlich crashed the party to enjoy the afternoon with their wives.
