York Symphony Orchestra Presents CELTIC CELEBRATION

The York Symphony Orchestra will present Celtic Celebration on Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York. The performance will feature special guest soloist, Jerry O'Sullivan, who is widely hailed as America's premier uilleann piper. 'The Golden Age Of The Piano'. KEYBOARD CONVERSATIONS With Jeffrey Siegel Is Back At The McCallum.

The McCallum Theatre presents Keyboard Conversations® with Jeffrey Siegel on Monday, February 26, at 7:00pm. This performance, "The Golden Age of the Piano," will feature "Minuet in G" by Ignace Paderewski; "Spinning Song" by Felix Mendelssohn; "Humoresque, Op. 101, No. 1" by Antonin Dvorak; "Prelude in G Minor, Op. 23, No. 5" by Sergei Rachmaninoff; "April, Op. 39, No. 4" from The Seasons by Peter Ilyich Tchaikowsky; "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen" by Edvard Grieg; "Valse Triste, Op. 44" by Jean Sibelius; and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2" by Franz Liszt.

Harlem Of The East Meets HARLEM OF THE WEST In The Studio Loft

The Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet and Cuban pianist/composer Aldo Lopez-Gavilan join members of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the DPO's "With a Twist" chamber music series. With a Latin jazz flavor, this "Twist" is a can't-miss collaboration featuring original music by Lopez-Gavilan, Dizzy Gillespie, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Strayhorn (March 9), and Lopez-Gavilan and Felix Mendelssohn (March 10).

New York Choral Society to Perform WHERE EVEN THE SEA SINGS at Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall Presents the New York String Orchestra with Jaime Laredo on 12/24 and 28

Under the baton of Jaime Laredo, the New York String Orchestra, an ensemble of young players from around the world who come together each year for a seminar of rehearsals and performance preparation, will give its two annual concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage in late December. For more than 40 years, the orchestra has celebrated joyous music-making in concert on Christmas Eve. This year, on Sunday, December 24 at 7:00 p.m., the orchestra is joined by violinist Pamela Frank, who was once a student of Mr. Laredo, for Mozart's Sinfonia concertante on a program that also includes Vivaldi's Concerto in A Minor for Two Violins, Strings, and Continuo from L'estro armonico as well as Haydn's Drumroll Symphony. On Thursday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m., pianist Richard Goode is featured in Mozart's dramatic Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor. Also on the program is Gabriela Lena Frank's work Eleg a Andina inspired by Peruvian pan pipes and Mendelssohn's vibrant Scottish Symphony.

Melodia Women's Choir, New York's premier ensemble for women's choral music, led by artistic director Cynthia Powell, celebrates 15 years of bringing women's choral music to the world with a 15th-anniversary concert Autumn Fire, a program featuring a lovely set of motets by siblings Felix Mendelssohn and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, as well as the harp mass Harfenmesse: Missa Advocata Nostra by Johann Kaspar Aiblinger, and Josef Rheinberger's ethereal Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen.

Announcing Lincoln Center's White Light Festival 2017

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

New York Philharmonic String Quartet To Make NY Recital Debut at 92nd Street Y, 11/12

The New York Philharmonic String Quartet will make its New York recital debut at 92nd Street Y performing Beethoven's String Quartet No. 4; Dvo? k's String Quartet in F major, American; and Mendelssohn's String Quartet in F minor on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. The performance will be co-presented by the New York Philharmonic and 92nd Street Y. Formed in January 2017, the New York Philharmonic String Quartet comprises Concertmaster Frank Huang, Principal Associate Concertmaster Sheryl Staples, Principal Viola Cynthia Phelps, and Principal Cello Carter Brey.

LARK Quartet Performs Schulhoff with Princeton Symphony Orchestra

On Sunday, October 29 at 4 pm, the New York-based LARK Quartet, which counts Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) concertmaster Basia Danilow among its members, joins the PSO to perform Erwin Schulhoff's Concerto for String Quartet and Winds, WV97 on a program with Ottorino Respighi's Gli uccelli and Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 in D Major, Op. 107 Reformation. Rossen Milanov conducts the afternoon concert at Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University.

PPO, NAMCYA Winners to Hold Concert UNANG HAKBANG, 9/24

On September 24 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Theatre, winners of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), the country's most prestigious music competition for the youth for more than 40 years, will be performing with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) to give a sampling of great works of some of the most prodigious composers who ever lived.
