As previously reported, Broadway veteran Vanessa Williams will join the cast of Desperate Housewives as a series regular this season. Housewives creator Marc Cherry has been in search for a new trouble-maker for the block since Nicolette Sheridan's departure from the show. TVGuide.com reports that Lois Smith will be the newest member of Wasteria Lane this upcoming season, playing the role of 'Allison Scavo,' mother to 'Tom (played by Soug Savant). Kathie Lee Gifford will host the 2nd Annual National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) on Monday, June 28 at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway). The NHSMTA is a national celebration of outstanding student achievement recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performance by high school students. Forty-four young performers will compete for the coveted JimmyTM Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance of an Actress, as well as merit scholarships and professional opportunities.
