Michael Shannon and More Cast in Chicago Humanities Festival's Nov 2013 Shows

The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) announced casting today for two theatrical productions in November: White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, the Iranian absurdist play about isolation co-presented with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), running today, Nov. 3-9, 2013, and Birds Do It, Bees Do It..., the annual cabaret performance Nov. 5, 2013, created by Rob Lindley and Doug Peck.

Larry Yando to Star in Goodman Theatre's A CHRISTMAS CAROL; Cast Announced!

The most wonderful time of the year is underway as rehearsals begin this week for Goodman Theatre's A Christmas Carol, 'a joyous present for the entire family' (Chicago Sun-Times), in its 36th annual production. Directing the holiday favorite for the first time, Henry Wishcamper's production features all-new on stage magic-set elements, special effects and more. The cast of 27 (below, includes 14 new and 13 returning cast members) stars Larry Yando, who most recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman's production of The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, in his sixth turn as Ebenezer Scrooge and 8-year-old Matthew Abraham as Tiny Tim for the second year. A Christmas Carol runs November 16 - December 28 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre.

Oprah Winfrey Bringing John Doyle's Reimagined THE COLOR PURPLE to Broadway?

Just last week, Oprah Winfrey chatted with The New York Daily News about her long-professed desire to take to the stage. Now according to the New York Times, the media mogul is looking into bringing John Doyle's current reimagined production of THE COLOR PURPLE, which is currently playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory, to Broadway.

Theatre at the Center Presents Felicia P. Fields, 2/14

Celebrating the most romantic night of the year, powerhouse songstress Felicia P. Fields will perform her all new show, Mess Around & Fall in Love, on Thursday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Rd. Filled with sassy hits like "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)", "Women Be Wise", "You Can Have My Husband But Don't Mess With My Man", and "I Got My Mojo Workin', Mess Around & Fall in Love brings entertainment to a new level and will have the audience singing and dancing in their seats for the entire 75-minute program. Dinner theater packages are available for $50 per person and performance only tickets are available for $35.

Marriott Theatre's 2012 Season Will Close With MY ONE AND ONLY, Beginning 11/7

Rounding out the Marriott Theatre's 2012 season, MY ONE AND ONLY features an incomparable Gershwin score and thrilling dance. This captivating musical romance previews November 7, opens Wednesday, November 14 and runs through January 6 at 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL. MY ONE AND ONLY will be directed and choreographed by Jeff Award winner Tammy Mader.

Goodman Theatre Artistic Associate and "triple threat" Playwright/Director/Actor Regina Taylor brings her musical Crowns, based on the book by Craig Marberry with photographs by Michael Cunningham, back to the Goodman stage. For her all-new 10th anniversary production, Taylor has engaged community partners and used workshops to explore and deepen the spoken word, dance and music elements in Crowns. Chicago Shakespeare Theater's 2012 Gala Raises Nearly $1 Million

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), concluded its 25th Anniversary celebration on June 11 with Gala 2012 at its home on Navy Pier. Three hundred and fifty of Chicago's civic and cultural leaders attended the event benefiting the Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient's far-reaching education and civic engagement programs. Through the leadership of Gala 2012 Lead Sponsors Northern Trust, Donna Van Eekeren Foundation and Food For Thought Catering, the support of the Gala 2012 Host Committee and the advocacy of CST's Board of Directors, the Theater raised nearly $1 million for its continuing work as a partner in literacy for Chicago Public Schools.
