Wes Anderson's newest whimsical film, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, opens in theaters today. Written and directed by Anderson with a story by Anderson and Hugo Guinness, the all-star cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Tony Revolori, F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan and Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Tom Wilkinson and Owen Wilson.

An annual evening to benefit TNC's Emerging Playwrights Program, this year's LOVE 'N COURAGE event featured appearances by Liliane Montevecchi, Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, two-time Tony winner Tammy Grimes accompanied by Alex Rybeck, singer Anna Bergman accompanied by William Hicks, Austin Pendleton, Katharine Cullison, cabaret star KT Sullivan, Inma Heredia, Human Kinetics Movement Arts, Rachel Klein Dance Company, Jocab Merrick Storms, the Yip Harburg Foundation Rainbow Troupe, and Michael-David Gordon and TNC's Street Theater Company. Rehearsals for Atlantic Theater Company's revival of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's musical THE THREEPENNY OPERA, directed and choreographed by visionary Martha Clarke, are now underway. The production features a celebrated cast of 14, including Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham, Sophie Bortolussi, Jon David Casey, Timothy Doyle, Lilli Cooper, Rick Holmes, John Kelly, Lindsey Dietz Marchant, Sally Murphy, Tony Award nominee Mary Beth Peil, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes, Emmy Award winner Michael Park, Cristina Spina and John Watkins. Directed by Cannes & Venice film festival favorite, Peter Greenaway's Eisenstein cast includes Finnish actor Elmer Back in the title role, Mexican actor Luis Alberti in the role of his guide (Palomino Cañedo), South African actor Stelio Savante as Hunter S. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present BRECHT FEST, a special series exploring the songs, poetry and stories of Bertolt Brecht, to be presented on Monday, February 3 and Monday, February 10 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). CSC is currently presenting Brecht's A MAN'S A MAN, directed by Brian Kulick and with a new score and new songs by Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik, continuing the company's exploration of the works of Brecht, which began in 2011 with the sold-out production of Galileo and was followed by last season's The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) just announced complete casting for the anticipated musical revival of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's musical THE THREEPENNY OPERA, directed and choreographed by visionary Martha Clarke.

On Monday, January 27 (3pm and 7pm), Cherry Lane Theatre will present Love/Kill by Joe Pintauro. The project will be directed by Valentina Fratti and will feature the talents of Angelina Fiordellisi, Mandy Gonzales, Alex Morgan, Dennis Parlato and Peter McRobbie.

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Machinal, starring Rebecca Hall, written by Sophie Treadwell and directed by Lyndsey Turner, began previews on December 20 and opened last night, Jan. 16, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. But you also need to pay for instrument transportation, orchestra transportation, hotel rooms, soloists, etc., etc., etc.! The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is heading to Carnegie Hall for the Spring for Music Festival on May 10, 2014 and, along with practice, it can only get there with a little help from friends through a 47-day Kickstarter campaign.
