New Stage Theatre to Open New Space with RULES, Based on Charles Mee Play

The award winning New Stage Theatre Company will open its new permanent home, The New Stage Performance Space, located at 36 West 106th Street, Manhattan, from March 31 to April 30 with the debut production of 'Rules,' a multimedia theatre piece conceived and directed by Ildiko Nemeth.  The piece is based on 'The Rules' by Charles L. Mee, a play from his (re)making project.

Opera Atelier Presents MEDEA as Part of 16-17 Season, April 22-29

Opera Atelier's 16-17 season continues with Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Medea at the Elgin Theatre, Apr. 22-29, 2017. Following its Toronto run, Medea will tour to the Royal Opera House at the Palace of Versailles, marking the first time that Charpentier's masterpiece has played in the Royal Opera House. The production stars soprano Peggy Kriha Dye and Canadian tenor Colin Ainsworth, the powerhouse partnership that gained international acclaim in Opera Atelier's Armide.

Jeff-Recommended BY THE BOG OF CATS Extends to 4/15

The Artistic Home Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra announced today that the company's production of By the Bog of Cats, by Marina Carr, will extend its run by an additional three weeks to meet the overwhelming demand for seats. The Chicago Tribune's Kerry Reid said of it 'Mossman and his cast dig into the textures of Carr's script with gusto and sensitivity. Collins gives a bravura performance.' The Artistic Home's production, which opened to the press on February 13,  is directed by Jeff Award winner and ensemble member John Mossman.

Today, Wexford Festival Opera announced the programme and principal casting details for the forthcoming 2017 festival. Now in its 66th year, this internationally renowned festival will run over an extended 18-day period, from Thursday, 19 October to Sunday, 5 November.

HSA Theatre Alliance presents a contemporary take on the classic Greek tragedy by Euripides, The Trojan Women. Award-winning director and Harlem School of the Arts Artistic Director Alfred Preisser directs the play, which is scheduled to run Today through Sunday for four weeks, beginning February 24 - March 19 at the HSA Theatre, 645 St. Nicholas Avenue, NYC 10030.

BWW Review: Humanity's Heartbreak Revealed at OTW's Tragic WOMEN OF TROY

In a play more than 2000 years old written by Euripides titled The Trojan Women, Dale Gutzman's Off the Wall Theater (OTW) reimagines their Women of Troy set in the 1920's. Gutzman worked several years to adapt the play inspired by a Don Taylor translation revealing the aftermath of the infamous Trojan War through a women's eyes, the prisoners and refugees shipped to another city. These were the women who survived when their brothers, fathers, husbands and sons were slaughtered by the Athenians, after the legendary Trojan horse 'birthed blood' that flowed into Troy's streets.

Riot Grrls, the all-women arm of Taffety Punk Theatre Company, made the brilliant decision to take on THE TROJAN WOMEN, a play written by Euripides and translated into English by Edith Hamilton. Although the play itself is practically as old as time, the story remains jarringly relevant in today's time. It is directed by Kelsey Mesa. 

Irish Drama BY THE BOG OF CATS to Play The Artistic Home

The Artistic Home Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra announced today that the company will perform By the Bog of Cats; a drama by Irish playwright Marina Carr (The Mai) that premiered at Dublin's Abbey Theatre in 1998 and was produced in London's West End in a 2004 production starring Holly Hunter.
