POLKADOTS: The Cool Kids Musical, a new musical celebrating the diversity among children, will have a private industry reading today, August 28th, in New York City. Creator Douglas Lyons (Five Points: An American Musical) is the show's lyricist and co-composed the score alongside Greg Borowsky (Sony ATV). The book is by Melvin Tunstall III.
On August 28th the completely original new show Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical will get it's first private industry readings in NYC. The all-star cast features Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening) as Sky Square, Brittney Johnson (Beautiful) as Lily Polkadot, Talia Thiesfield (HBO's Veep) as Penelope Square and Russell Arden Koplin (Les Miserables) as Mrs. Square/Mama Square.

Broadway au Carre was born in Paris in February 2014 and a year later this American musical theatre concert and open mic series has become a reference in France and in Europe. Twelve months of sold-out performances at the Carre Parisien led to a special "Broadway au Carre - from Paris to New York" concert at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre in New York in December and now Broadway au Carre's international artistic exchange platform has reached a whole new level. All through the year, Broadway au Carre will be featuring concerts, workshops, readings and master classes by American songwriters, performers and directors, bringing joy to musical theatre lovers both in France and abroad.
In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 46 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus later this month to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. Musical presentations started October 23 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) and included Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton.
