Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the complete cast for the Chicago premiere of Domesticated, a provocative dark comedy written and directed by ensemble member and Pulitzer Prize-winner Bruce Norris. The cast features ensemble member Tom Irwin and venerable Chicago actress Mary Beth Fisher as a political couple in the midst of a sex scandal. Irwin has been an ensemble member since 1979, having performed in more than 50 Steppenwolf productions including The Grapes of Wrath and The Seafarer. Fisher, a frequent performer at Goodman Theatre, most recently in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, last performed at Steppenwolf in Dead Man's Cell Phone in 2008. Completing the Domesticated cast are Emily Chang, Esteban Andres Cruz, Meighan Gerachis, Rae Gray, Beth Lacke, Millie Langford, Melanie Neilan, Meg Thalken and Karen Woditsch. Directed by Timothy Douglas in his ANW debut, the show opens tonight, September 13 and runs through Saturday, November 22, 2014. This will be the third production of The Tempest for A Noise Within, which also mounted the play in 1993 and 2006; going against the grain in true revolutionary form, Prospero will be cast with a woman in the role, ANW favorite Deborah Strang.

Saving the most hilarious and provocative for last, Cygnet is closing their 11th season by bringing The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis (The Little Flower of East Orange) to San Diego for its premiere. The high-octane, verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery, is set smack in the center of New York's Hell's Kitchen. A Broadway hit that is exhilarating, hilarious and totally irreverent, this comedy/drama is also an examination of acceptance, loyalty and above all love. As is apparent from its title, this stunningly written play contains drugs, violence, sexual situations and strong f**king language. The production runs May 15th through June 22nd at the Old Town Theatre. Opening Night is tonight, May 24th.

Esteban Cruz has had to permanently leave the cast of American Theater Company/About Face's production of RENT for undisclosed personal reasons. As of today, Wednesday, May 23, the role of Angel will be taken over by Eduardo Placer.
