New Georges Presents The Germ Project at 3LD Art, Previews Begins June 11

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, will present "THE GERM PROJECT," featuring the work of playwrights Kara Lee Corthron (directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni), Lynn Rosen (directed by Shoshana Gold), Kathryn Walat (directed by Portia Krieger), and Anna Ziegler (directed by Beatrice Terry).

BETWEEN US CHICKENS Premieres at Atwater Village Theatre, 5/20-6/19

Two small town twenty-somethings - one a party girl, the other a homebody - find their roles reversing after they move to L.A. and meet a smooth-talking local. Atwater Village Theatre (AVT) artistic directors Gates McFadden of Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA and Tim Wright of Circle X Theatre Co. are thrilled to announce the world premiere production of Between Us Chickens by Sofia Alvarez.

Cole Escola To Play Joe's Pub May 20 & 27

Cole Escola, acclaimed for his inspired musical performances in Joe's Pub's recurring smash Our Hit Parade and Casserole Live, the live performance component of his hit television series, Jeffery & Cole Casserole, returns to Joe's Pub following eagerly anticipated solo debut there in January. With Cole's broad showmanship and sweetheart charm, his act hearkens back to a time when the great ladies of stage and screen dazzled the crowds in smoky rooms all over town. An exciting bill of standards, showtunes, Motown and original material brought to life by Cole's decidedly fresh perspective and raw energy under the direction of Ben Rimalower (Leslie Kritzer is Patti LuPone at Les Mouches) and featuring a band led by Bistro Award-winner Ray Fellman. Cole Escola premieres at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) on FRIDAY, MAY 20th at 11:30 PM and FRIDAY, MAY 27th at 11:30 PM.

From the Lark Play Development's BareBones® Program that supported Katori Hall's THE MOUNTAINTOP and Rajiv Joseph's BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO, the Lark announces a BareBones® presentation of NIGHT OVER ERZINGA by Adriana Sevahn Nichols, directed by Daniella Topol.

HOUSE OF THE RISING SON Extends Thru 6/12 at Atwater Village Theatre

Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA extends House of the Rising Son by Tom Jacobson through June 12. Tennessee Williams meets Anne Rice in a subversive, Southern gothic romance. Populated with ghosts and parasites, Jacobson's play mixes the supernatural with science to illuminate hot button issues of gay marriage and equality in a whole new way. It's at once a ghost story, a love story, and a family story.

GraceNotes Presents AT THE CORNER OF FAITH AND REASON, Opens May 28

East West Players Presents World Premiere KRUNK FU BATTLE BATTLE

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, continues its 45th Anniversary season, themed Shake It Up, with the world premiere hip hop musical, KRUNK FU BATTLE BATTLE, with book by Qui Nguyen, Lyrics by Beau Sia, Vocal Music by Marc Macalintal, Dance Music provided by Rynan Paguio and Jason Tyler Chong, Musical Direction by Marc Macalintal, and Choreography by Jason Tyler Chong.

Waterwell Announces Inaugural Production Of EMMA, May 11-14

Waterwell, one of the Village Voice's Best Arguments for Devised Theater (2010) and creators of Goodbar and #9, has announced the launch of an annual series of new play workshops at the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan.

World Premiere by Bacharach/Slater, SCOTTSBORO BOYS et al. Set for Old Globe in 2011-2012; Full Season Announced

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season. The season will feature the World Premiere musicals Some Lovers by music legend Burt Bacharach and Tony Award winner Steven Sater and Nobody Loves You by Gaby Alter and Itamar Moses, as well as the West Coast Premiere of John Kander and Fred Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys, recently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical, directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The two plays receiving World Premiere productions are Somewhere by Globe Playwright-in-Residence Matthew Lopez and The Recommendation by Jonathan Caren. The new season also includes revivals of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show and the Eugene O'Neill classic Anna Christie directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner David Auburn. Special events include the World Premiere of Odyssey by Todd Almond, a music theater event conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet celebrating the Globe's 75th Anniversary, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program production of Twelfth Night and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which returns for its 14th consecutive year.

Penumbra Theatre Announces Special Presentation Of I Wish You Love
