In its 30 seasons as a community-based, portable opera company, the In Series organization has appeared on a number of local stages, in colleges, revamped movie houses and contemporary theater spaces.
For three decades, the In Series has been presenting intimate, small scale works - what it calls 'pocket operas' on a variety of stages in the city.
STEEL MAGNOLIAS is now in an extended run at the Hanna Theatre, as part of the Key Bank Broadway series. It is based on author Robert Harling's sister's 1985 death from diabetic complications following the birth of his name-sake nephew.

Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein are delighted to welcome back Chicago's theatre renegades The Hypocrites to Louisville with their playful reimagining of H.M.S. Pinafore by Gilbert and Sullivan. Director Sean Graney and his multi-talented ensemble of actors will lead audiences on an extended voyage through a reel of rare delights as they turn W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan's classic operetta on its head in this charmingly silly interpretation. Co-adapted by Sean Graney, Andra Velis Simon and Matt Kahler, H.M.S. Pinafore will run as part of the Brown-Forman Series with preview performances beginning on November 1 7, opening on November 19 and running through December 13, 2015. It's now the third week for the new reboot of THE ODD COUPLE, and after surfing around the web a little, it seems that the ratings have been looking pretty solid. Looks like Oscar and Felix are here to stay (well, at least for now)! Last week, Geoff Stults guest starred, adding some hilarious scenes with Perry and Lenon. This week, it's Felix's birthday! However, it totally slips Oscar's mind so he pulls together a last minute surprise party. While this plot line has been used in past shows including THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, FRAISER, and I'm sure a few others, it should be a pretty funny episode. Plus, Dwight Howard (#12 for the Rockets) guest stars, which is pretty exciting considering I'm from Houston!
