Awards were handed out for 14 categories and 2 special awards are announced by the Off-Broadway League for the Lucille Lortel Awards recognizing Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. This year?s ceremony benefits The Actors Fund. A list of nominees follows below.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will present one additional performance of 1960 by Ian Finley and members of the Burning Coal Theatre Company next Thursday, May 7 at 8 pm at Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. The final screenplay from Pulitzer prize and Oscar winner Horton Foote, ?Main Street,? went before the cameras in Durham, North Carolina on April 6th with a blue chip cast and crew including Colin Firth, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson, Amber Tamblyn and Orlando Bloom set to star with Andrew McCarthy, Tom Wopat and Victoria Clark also in featured roles. Broadway Tony winning director John Doyle (?Sweeney Todd,? ?Company?) makes his feature film debut, with Oscar nominee Don McAlpine (?Moulin Rouge,? ?X-Men Origins: Wolverine?) behind the camera as director of photography. From April 15 through May 11 the 21 actors, three directors and one playwright in the first class to earn their Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) since the school moved to Pace in the fall of 2006 are presenting the school?s noted Repertory Season. The school is the only MFA theatre program officially sanctioned by the Actors Studio, whose co-Presidents are Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel and Al Pacino.

The 20th annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards will highlight over 100 films by students graduating from the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). The program includes screenings of short films, videos and animations; and an awards ceremony and gala with notable presenters from the film industry. Many of the screenings are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, including 'Screenwriters Night,' a collaboration with The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, in which SVA graduating screenwriters will have selected scenes performed live by alumni from The Neighborhood Playhouse.

Preview performances will begin on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street), with an opening night set for Sunday, March 29th at 6:30 pm.

Riverspace will roll out the red carpet and welcome celebrated director Mike Nichols on Friday, March 6 at 8:00 p.m. This rare appearance brings Mr. Nichols together with Riverspace Co-artistic Director Elliott Forrest for a fundraiser as part of the Conversation Series. U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel will introduce Nichols. One of the few distinguished artists to have won every major American award - an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award - Mike Nichols is a television, stage and film director, writer and producer. His career began as part of the incredibly influential 'Nichols and May' comedy team, with partner Elaine May. His illustrious film career began when he directed Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. That was followed by the iconic film The Graduate for which he won an Oscar for Best Director. Some of Mr. Nichols' other film credits include Carnal Knowledge. Catch-22, Charlie Wilson's War, The Odd Couple and Silkwood; television credits include Angels in America and Wit and Broadway shows include Barefoot in the Park, Hurlyburly, Spamalot and The Gin Game.

Emmy-nominated Paul Anthony Stewart stars as Raskolnikov in a gripping 90-minute adaptation of Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment at The Cleveland Play House. In addition to numerous New York and regional theatre roles, Stewart, who was nominated for his recurring role on 'Guiding Light,' recently appeared on Broadway in the revivals of Fiddler on the Roof and Cyrano - The Musical. Performed with only three actors, the adaptation of Crime and Punishment by Marilyn Campbell and Cut Columbus is being helmed by the acclaimed director of the 2005 Play House production of I Am My Own Wife, Anders Cato. Crime and Punishment begins in the Drury Theatre at The Cleveland Play House on Friday, February 27 and runs through Sunday, March 22, 2009.
