Drama League Names 2015 Directing Fellows

The Drama League have announced the exceptional stage directors who have been selected as the 2015 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project: Paul Bedard, Estefania Fadul, Aneesha Kudtarkar, Emily Lyon, Brad Raimondo, Austin Regan, Daniel Rogers, Annie Tippe, Sarah Wansley and Brandon Woolf. In addition, an eleventh fellow has been selected for a brand-new fellowship program, which will be revealed during the 81st Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, which will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the Public Lab production of TOAST, written by Lemon Andersen. Directed by Elise Thoron, TOAST begins previews on Tuesday, April 21 and runs through Sunday, May 10, with an official press opening on Tuesday, May 5.

Sundance Institute Sets Projects, Artists for Fall Theatre Labs

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists that will participate in its two Fall artist development programs: the inaugural Playwrights Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY (October 19-26), as well as the two-week Theatre Lab (November 30 - December 14) for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the Theatre Program's five annual Labs and Residencies for theatre artists and part of the 24 artist residency labs across many creative disciplines Sundance Institute offers annually.

Sundance Institute today announced the seven artists selected for its 2014 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 15th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, WY takes place February 3-21. With a star producer behind him and his loving girlfriend in the show, Bing's big dreams and hard work have finally landed him on the Great White Way. But when the show is a flop, his producer backs out and his girlfriend leaves him, and even the interest of the world's biggest movie star can't bring the production back from its early grave. Holding the jagged pieces of his life's work in his hands, Bing embarks on phantasmagoric odyssey to the people and places that shaped him, trying to salvage his reputation in a system that has a mind of its own.
