Photo Coverage: Elaine Page Promotes 'Memoriess' at Barnes & Noble!

Theatre icon Elaine Paige, the 'Queen of West End Musicals' who has created the roles of Eva Peron in 'Evita,' Grizabella in 'Cats,' Florence in 'Chess' and Edith Piaf in 'Piaf' and had a triumphant debut on Broadway in 1996 as Norma Desmond in 'Sunset Boulevard,' signed copies of her autobiography, 'Memories,' on Wednesday, September 22, at the Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle store. Elaine Paige OBE, the beloved star of both West End and Broadway musical theatre, celebrated 40 years on stage in September 2008. To mark the occasion, the UK's Oberon Books published Memories, with a foreword by Andrew Lloyd Webber, in which Elaine, in her own words, tells the story of her remarkable stage career and shows why she remains an enduringly popular international star.

Elaine Paige To Sign Copies of Her Autobiography At Barnes And Noble 9/22

Theatre icon Elaine Paige, *the "Queen of West End Musicals" who has created the roles of Eva Peron in "Evita," Grizabella in "Cats," Florence in "Chess" and Edith Piaf in "Piaf" and had a triumphant debut on Broadway in 1996 as Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard," will sign copies of her autobiography, entitled "Memories," on Wednesday, September 22, at the* *Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle store, 1972 Broadway, at West 66th Street. The event will begin at 7:30 PM.

Century 21 Will Replace Lincoln Square Barnes & Noble

As reported previously, the Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center, a longtime staple of Lincoln Triangle at 66th and Broadway, will close at the end of January, 2011 due to high rent. According to NBC New York, it will soon be replaced by the designer-discount store Century 21. This will be the second New York location for the store, the first being near the World Trade Center for the past 50 years. The new store is expected to open by fall of 2011.

Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center to Close in January

The New York Times has announced that the Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center, a longtime staple of Lincoln Triangle at 66th and Broadway, will close at the end of January, 2011 at the conclusion of its lease due to high rent.

Sweeney to Tour UK with TELL ME ON A SUNDAY Beginning 8/30

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Claire Sweeney will star in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's TELL ME ON A SUNDAY at York's Grand Opera House on October 12, 2010. Jamie Wilson Productions announced today that the production will also tour the UK. Tour dates have been announced from August 30, 2010 to November 21, 2010. With an exclusive new song 'I Still Believe in Love', this is the definitive version of the classic musical for 2010.

As part of its upcoming season New York City Opera will launch an all-new concert series showcasing the non-operatic works of composers whose operas will be presented on its main stage. With the 2010-2011 season boasting an opera by Oscar and Grammy-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz, the New York City Opera will host a special concert, Defying Gravity: The Music of Stephen Schwartz, featuring many Broadway stars.

Today New York City Opera released full casting, creative team, and production details for the company's 2010-2011 season. Lea Salonga Plays 'Grizabella' the Philippines, 7/24

CITIGROUP INC. has announced in the Philippine Daily Inquirer (11/3/09) that CATS, the second longest-running musical in Broadway history, will have a limited run at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) beginning July 24, 2010. This production will feature Tony winner Lea Salonga as Grizabella, and an international cast that will primarily come from Australia.
