ONE of Shakespeare's darkest comedies is brought to life in a shortened version at The Marlowe Studio next month.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the release ofChicago Shakespeare Theater: Suiting the Action to the Word, a collection of original essays that furthers the study of William Shakespeare in performance and stagecraft through the exploration of the Theater's first twenty-five years. Respected scholars, artists and theater critics view Shakespeare through the lens of the theater's artistry, bringing together professional observations and scholarly examinations of CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines's productions as well as collaborations with world-renowned directors who have worked at CST, including Michael Bogdanov(The Winter's Tale - 2003); Edward Hall (Rose Rage: Henry VI, Parts 1, 2, and 3 - 2004) and Josie Rourke (The Taming of the Shrew - 2010).

Hampstead Downstairs/The Peter Wolff Trust present GODCHILD by Deborah Bruce, directed by Michael Attenborough and designed by Francesca Ready, with lighting design by Oliver Fenwick and sound design by John Leonard. The show runs 31 October - 30 November 2013.

Antony Sher as Sigmund Freud leads a cast of David Horovitch, Adrian Schiller and Lydia Wilson in Terry Johnson's Hysteria at the Hamstead Theatre, a hilarious and insightful farce that raises intriguing questions about freud's radical revision of his theories on hysteria. The production runs Thursday 5 September to Saturday 12 October 2013.

The Hampstead Thetare has unveiled its Autumn 2013 season, including HYSTERIA, directed by Terry Johnson and starring Antony Sher as Sigmund Freud. Edward Hall will also direct the world premiere of RAVING by Simon Paisley Day, with Tamzin Outhwaite leading the cast.

Pocket Merchant, a 60-minute version of The Merchant of Venice, will be based on Propeller's acclaimed 2008/09 production. Set in a prison called Venice, the environment brings out the more radical tendencies in human nature, and which is fertile ground for the ferocious intolerance that Shakespeare examines in this controversial play.

The Guthrie Theater continues its 2012-13 season with the British company Propeller's all-male, modern and physical productions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Propeller artistic director Edward Hall. The two plays, performed in repertory (audiences can choose either show, or both on two different nights), come to the Guthrie as part of Propeller's international tour running through August 2013. Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew begin performances at the Guthrie on February 27, and continue through April 6, 2013. According to reports, West End's CHARIOTS OF FIRE has posted an early closing date of Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Gielgud Theatre. It was originally set to close on February 2.

The Rose Theatre Kingston has announced its Christmas production and two further new Rose Theatre Productions in 2013. Covering the Christmas period, Cinderella The Midnight Princess, tells the magical classic Cinderella story with humour and the sublime music of Mozart. In-house productions include Noel Coward's The Vortex and Richard Bean's black comedy Smack Family Robinson, directed by the much-loved Richard Wilson. Next year also sees the return of Propeller with The Taming of the Shrew and Twelfth Night, and Northern Broadsides presents the groundbreaking Rutherford & Son, directed by Sir Jonathan Miller.

Under artistic director Edward Hall, the theatre company Propeller has launched PROPELLER PLAY a unique online interactive resource providing access to behind-the-scenes information, previously unseen photography and film footage, as well as insights into the different areas of theatre production.
