The Power of Pictures Family Day Set for Jewish Museum, 11/15

 The Jewish Museum will present The Power of Pictures Family Day, a fun-filled day of activities, on Sunday, November 15 from 12 noon to 4pm.  Children can design vibrant posters at a drop-in art workshop; create a surreal family portrait; rock out in Russian and English with the band Lyagushki; and explore the power of the camera to capture the world around us through gallery tours of the exhibition The Power of Pictures: Early Soviet Photography, Early Soviet Film.

Ralph's World to Perform Family Concert at Jewish Museum, 11/8

Ralph's World will perform a concert for families on Sunday, November 8 at 11:30 am at the Jewish Museum.   Ralph's World is the musical planet where kids rock out to high-energy tunes by Ralph Covert, the Grammy-nominated, Chicago-based indie rocker. Covert and his bandmates Tommy O'Brien, Brian Sheridan, and Bean Weng bring to their kids' concerts the same high-energy and super-melodic sense that he developed for his adult pop-rock band, The Bad Examples.

Alison Faith Levy to Perform at Jewish Museum, 10/11

The Jewish Museum launches its fall 2015 family concert series with a performance by San Francisco-based kindie rocker Alison Faith Levy on Sunday, October 11 at 11:30am.  Levy - formerly “Sippy Alison” of the beloved kids' psychedelic band The Sippy Cups -  and her Big|Brave Time Tot Rock Band make their New York debut at the Museum, and will perform whimsical '60s-style tunes from her albums, The Start of Things and World of Wonder, in a high energy, interactive show for the entire family.

Jewish Museum to Host Puppetry Workshop for Families, 6/14

Whimsical Puppetry Wonders, a drop-in art workshop for families, will take place on Sunday, June 14 from 1pm to 4pm at The Jewish Museum.  Kids can design puppet characters inspired by classic tales of the Yiddish theater, combining tradition with imagination. Participants will use found objects, modeling clay, paint, colorful fabrics, and wire to sculpt these unique puppets. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to bring the characters to life on a mini-stage! The workshop is co-presented with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene as a part of KulturefestNYC.

Revolution of the Eye Family Day Set for Jewish Museum, 5/17

The Jewish Museum will present Revolution of the Eye Family Day, a fun-filled day of activities, on Sunday, May 17 from 12 noon to 4pm.  Kids can enjoy animated live music with Morgan Taylor of Gustafer Yellowgold; design wearable art inspired by Andy Warhol; illustrate superhero characters; act out scenes in a television photo booth; and discover classic television shows such as the first interactive children's program, Winky Dink and You, and the 1960s Batman series in the exhibition, Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television.

Singer/guitarist Brady Rymer will perform a concert for families at the Jewish Museum on Sunday, April 19 at 11:30am. Just in time for Earth Day, Rymer and the Little Band That Could will celebrate spring with catchy rhythms and soulful rock in a show featuring songs from their Grammy-nominated 2014 album, Just Say Hi! such as “Ice Cream Girl” and “Gettin' My Ya Ya's Out.”

The Jewish Museum will present a fun-filled family day for Passover, Freedom Art Jam, on Sunday, March 29 from 12 noon to 4pm. Special activities for the holiday include a dance party with Baby Loves Disco, a performance by The Macaroons, a huge drop-in art workshop, and holiday spotlight tours.

The Pop Ups to Perform Family Concert at Jewish Museum, 3/8

The kids' indie rock duo The Pop Ups will perform a concert for families at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, March 8 at 11:30am. Not content to stand still onstage playing their guitars, The Pop Ups perform using cardboard props, hand-painted sets, and a colorful cast of original puppets, crafting a world of magic that engages, educates and delights all ages. The concert will feature songs from Appetite for Construction, nominated for the 2015 Grammy for Best Children's Album.

Vered and the Babes to Perform Family Concert at Jewish Museum, 2/22

Vered and the Babes will star in a hip concert for families at the Jewish Museum on Sunday, February 22 at 11:30am. The band, featuring Vered Ronen with Rob Jost and Matt Hilgenberg, will perform funny, poignant, and upbeat melodies, reminiscent of doo-wop, from their hit album Good Morning My Love, praised by the Parents' Choice Foundation as having “warmth enough to melt the polar ice cap.” Vered plays a variety of instruments, ranging from French horn and trumpet to pots and pans, and will have kids and parents alike jumping and singing along. The concert program includes songs geared to helping new parents bond with their babies as well as tunes for children up to age 7.

Music for Aardvarks Band to Play Two Shows at Jewish Museum, 2/8

David Weinstone and The Music for Aardvarks Band will perform two concerts for kids at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, February 8 at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Families will hear favorite songs celebrating being a kid in New York City such as City Kid, Taxi, Jack Hammer Joe and Modern Art. David Weinstone, founder of Music for Aardvarks, explains, 'our shows are rockin', and we try to have as much audience participation as possible. We've even had kids come up on stage with us to sing or dance.'

They Might Be Giants's Danny Weinkauf to Play Jewish Museum, 1/25

Grammy-winning musician and composer Danny Weinkauf (bassist for They Might Be Giants) and his Red Pants Band will perform a concert for families at the Jewish Museum on Sunday, January 25 at 2 pm. The band will play songs from their popular album, No School Today, including “Archaeology” and “The Moon is Made of Cheese,” as well They Might Be Giants favorites like “Where Do They Make Balloons?” and “I Am a Paleontologist.” No School Today won a 2014 Parents' Choice Award.

The Jewish Museum will present its annual Hanukkah Family Day, a fun-filled day of activities, on Sunday, December 14 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Kids can construct a sculptural Hanukkah menorah with funky found objects, dance to the music of Shirlala, see the Hanukkah story brought to life through a drawing performance with Jeff Hopkins, and explore the Museum's world-famous collection of Hanukkah lamps.

Families can shake to the multicultural music and contagious rhythms of the five-member band Hot Peas 'N Butter at the Jewish Museum on Sunday, December 21 at 11:30 am. Seen on Nickelodeon and Noggin and led by Danny Lapidus and Francisco Cotto, the band's mix of everything from Puerto Rican folk and American blues to klezmer and world beats will get everyone dancing. To celebrate Hanukkah, the band will perform songs that offer a unique twist, such as the Ladino sounds of 'Ocho Kandelikas.'

The kids indie rock band Josh & The Jamtones will perform at the Jewish Museum on Sunday, December 7 at 11:30 am. Fronted by singer/songwriter Josh Shriber and drummer/producer Patrick Hanlin, their interactive concerts get crowds of any age moving their bodies and singing along. Josh seamlessly blends roots/reggae/ska stylings, feel-good pop, folk punk, country ballads, New Orleans-style street music and kid-friendly improv comedy. The concert will feature songs from The Jamtones' two critically-acclaimed family records, Jump Up and Bear Hunt!

Jazz at Lincoln Center's WeBop! Family Jazz Party: Painted Beats, presented by the Jewish Museum, will take place at the Museum on Sunday, November 23 at 2:30 pm. Parents can spark creativity and musicality with Jazz at Lincoln Center's sellout WeBop! program for families with children ages 3 to 8 years. Attendees will join the WeBop! Family Band for this interactive jazz party exploring the connections between jazz and the art works of Lee Krasner and Norman Lewis. Families will help add color and shape to the music while learning how jazz and art share many similar qualities.
