The nominees for the 2010 GREGORY AWARDS have been announced, and tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Gregory Awards Ceremony at ACT on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Seattle audiences have two additional weeks to join Don Quixote (Jeff Berryman) and Sancho Panza (Don Darryl Rivera) on their quest to discover a world filled with beauty, hope and wonder in Man of La Mancha. Responding to demand and packed houses, Taproot Theatre Company has extended the run of this Tony Award-winning musical for two weeks.

Man of La Mancha provides a glimpse into the Spanish literature that inspired Picasso, before Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris opens at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) in October. Inspired by Spanish writers including Cervantes, Picasso wove characters such as Don Quixote-a revolutionary like himself-into some of his art. Man of La Mancha, directed by producing artistic director Scott Nolte with musical direction by Edd Key, opens on July 9 and runs through August 7, with low-price previews on July 7 and 8, plus a pay-what-you-can performance on July 14. Book-It Repertory Theatre finishes off their 20th anniversary season by revisiting one of their earlier works, "The Cider House Rules, Part One: Here in St. Clouds" based on the novel by John Irving. And while only half of the story is represented here, the show is a fully realized and wondrous piece of theater.

The Cider House Rules has a special place in Book-It's history as the first full-length novel adapted in the Book-It StyleTM, and as a turning-point undertaking that helped the once fledgling company establish itself firmly in the Seattle theatre community. The company is thrilled to celebrate its 20th Anniversary season with both Parts One and Two of The Cider House Rules. The Cider House Rules, Part One: Here in St. Clouds plays on Book-It Repertory Theatre's stage at the Center House Theatre June 9 to July 11, 2010. Taproot Theatre Company opens its 2009 Mainstage season in January with the regional premiere of Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder's celebrated play, Gee's Bend. A story of courage and hope spanning over 60 years in the African American community of Gee's Bend, Alabama, Gee's Bend, directed by Karen Lund, opens on January 30 and runs through February 28, with low-price previews on January 28 & 29, plus a Pay-What-You-Can performance on February 4. Taproot Theatre is hosting a series of special events during the run of Gee's Bend, including a special appearance by several quilters from Gee's Bend, Alabama, at the post-play discussion on February 18; behind-the-scenes preview events at the Greenwood library (January 17) and the Northwest African American Museum (January 24); and post-play appearances by the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters (Wednesdays, February 4-25), who built a quilt that will be seen at Taproot Theatre. That association is also providing several other quilts to be displayed and auctioned off during the run of Gee's Bend. Corresponding with Black History Month, Gee's Bend captures the rich story of the women of Gee's Bend, Alabama, where discarded rags, scraps and bits of thread are pieced into works of art. Their compelling stories, like the spirituals they sing and the quilts they create, form a striking patchwork of the African American journey of the past century.
