MTAP Incubator Reading of ME, MYSELF AND OTHERS Set for August 29th

MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator proudly unveils Me, Myself and Others - a musical work-in-development by Eva Rainforth. This one night only stage reading features Eva Rainforth, Beth Bush and Zanna Fredland. Me, Myself and Others will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Pittsburgh CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium, 130 CLO Academy Way in downtown Pittsburgh. MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator readings are being presented with the extensive cooperation and support of the Pittsburgh CLO.

2016 MFA Playwrights' Workshop to Develop Eight New Works at the Kennedy Center

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, is pleased to co-present the 11th annual MFA Playwright's Workshop (MFAPW) in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays.

Artists Announced for Lincoln Center Out of Doors 2016

Artists have been added to the schedule for Lincoln Center Out of Doors, one of the country's longest-running, free, summer outdoor festivals which opens its 46th season on July 20.  The popular festival will fill the plazas of Lincoln Center with a diverse range of music, dance, spoken word, and family events, featuring dozens of U.S., international, and local artists through August 7.

New Children's Book THE PERFECT SHADE OF PINK is Released

Author Margo Smith wanted to write a children's book that teaches children that they should accept themselves no matter what. Her new book, 'The Perfect Shade of Pink' (published by Trafford Publishing), teaches children to receive unconditional love through the story of a flamingo.

To close its 47th Season, Marin Theatre Company will produce the West Coast premiere of Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins. Directed by MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis, this play about love and loss will feature five actors playing multiple characters, using puppets and playing live music both original (by MTC's frequent collaborator Chris Houston, a Berkeley-based composer and musician) and from the era of the play - 1920s Chicago. Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, will stage August Wilson's Fences, the 1950s entry into his Century Cycle (also known as his Pittsburgh Cycle) - a decade-by-decade exploration of the black experience in 20th century America. Directed by Derrick Sanders, the Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award-winning play will feature veteran film and television actor Carl Lumbly as Troy Maxson, Steven Anthony Jones, the artistic director of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, as Jim Bono and award-winning actor, playwright and director Margo Hall as Rose, as well as Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Eddy Ray Jackson as Cory, Adrian Roberts as Gabriel,Tyee Tilghman as Lyons and two Marin City youths - Jade Sweeney, who attends Willow Creek Academy, and Makaelah Bashir, Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy - splitting the role of Raynell. John McLaughlin Set for Paul Reed Smith's Custom Guitar Presentation at Met Museum, 10/7

American guitar maker Paul Reed Smith will present a custom-made electric guitar to The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, October 7, at 4:30 p.m. The presentation will take place at the Museum's Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing and will be followed by a musical demonstration by legendary guitarist John McLaughlin.
