East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, announces their signature “one night only” event fundraiser, which this year will be a tribute to Producing Artistic Director Tim Dang and Arts Education Director Marilyn Tokuda honoring the achievements in their last year at East West Players. On June 30, it was announced that Tim Dang would be stepping down as Artistic Director of EWP in June 2016 and Marilyn Tokuda would be retiring at the same time. Proceeds of One Night Only benefit the artistic and educational programs of East West Players.

This summer, visit the idyllic Mediterranean countryside as INDEPENDENT SHAKESPEARE CO. brings you to the end of WWII as it presents its take one of Shakespeare's most loved comedies, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, directed by Jeffrey Wienckowski. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING will begin previews at THE GRIFFITH PARK FREE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL on Thursday, July 30 at 7pm and will open on Saturday, August 8 at 7:00pm and perform through Sunday, August 30 at Old Zoo in Griffith Park. All ISC Summer Shakespeare productions are FREE to the public! MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING will follow ROMEO & JULIET, currently playing through July 26. ISC is the 2015 recipient of the LA Drama Critics Circle's highest honor, the Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in theater, and a 2015 recipient of a grant award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest running professional theatre of color and the largest creator of Asian Pacific artistic work, announces the winners of the "2042: See Change" playwriting competition, funded with generous support from the James Irvine Foundation. The 2042: See Change initiative is a visionary goal for equity, diversity and inclusion for the American Theater. According to the US Census, by 2042, minorities are projected to become the majority. The "2042: See Change" Playwriting Competition received a record-breaking number of submissions that were professionally unproduced and explored the changing face of America.

This will give the organization a full year to transition to a new strategic plan and to mentor new leadership for the next chapter of the organization.

'The Who's TOMMY' was originally produced on Broadway by Pace Theatrical Group and Dodger Productions with Kardana Productions.
