KING OF THE YEES Set for UNC's Process Series, 11/6-7

The Process Series at UNC will feature an engaging new work by an acclaimed playwright in November. Commissioned by the Goodman Theater in Chicago, Lauren Yee's King of the Yees will be performed November 6 and 7, 2014, at 8:00pm in Studio 6 of Swain Hall at UNC-Chapel Hill. The performance is free and open to the public with a $5 suggested donation.

THE NUTCRACKER Musical to Play Round House Theatre, 11/26-12/28

Round House Theatre continues its 2014/15 season with a magical, fresh new take on a beloved classic - The Nutcracker, a new holiday musical created by Tommy Rapley, Jake Minton, Phillip Klapperich, and Kevin O'Donnell. Directed by the award-winning Joe Calarco, The Nutcracker makes its area premiere at Round House Theatre from November 26 thru December 28, 2014. Opening night is Monday, December 1, 2014.

Tony Winner Michael Cerveris Joins Next Week's Dramatists Guild Fund Benefit

Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris will join starry line up for the Dramatists Guild Fund's annual gala Great Writers Thank Their Lucky Stars, set for Monday, October 27 at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The cocktail reception will begin at 6:30pm, followed by the dinner and celebration at 7:30pm.

NAMT's 2014 Festival of New Musicals Continues This Weekend

The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today its selections for the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton make up the eight new musicals that will be presented at the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals today, October 23, 2014 and Friday, October 24, 2014 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Rehearsals Now Underway for THE FABULOUS LIPITONES at George Street Playhouse

Barbershop quartets will take center stage at New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse as they present John Markus and Mark St. Germain's a cappella musical comedy, The Fabulous Lipitones on stage beginning November 18. The cast includes You Tube sensation Rohan Kymal, and Broadway veterans Donald Corren, Wally Dunn and Jim Walton. Michael Mastro (The Subject Was Roses) returns to helm the production, and Broadway veteran Michael Lichtefeld will put the quartet through their paces as choreographer.

Tony Nominee Marc Kudisch to Lead Amas' Readings of ROTHSCHILD & SONS Next Month

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab in association withThe National Jewish Theater Foundation ( will present staged readings for the New York premiere of Rothschild & Sons, a new musical based on The Rothschilds, with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Sherman Yellen.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) announce recent recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for Manhattan Theatre Club. The commissioned writers are Jeff Augustin (Little Children Dream of God), Courtney Baron (A Very Common Procedure) and Juliana Nash (Murder Ballad), Nell Benjamin (The Explorers Club), Madeline George (The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence), Tom Holloway (And No More Shall We Part), Nathan Jackson (Broke-ology), Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (An Octoroon), Greg Pierce (Slowgirl), and Alexandra Wood (The Initiate).

MISS JULIE Runs Now thru 11/8 at August Strindberg Rep

From today, October 21 to November 8, August Strindberg Repertory will transport Strindberg's 'Miss Julie' to an antebellum Louisiana plantation in a new interpretation conceived by Artistic Director Robert Greer and adapted by Edgar Chisholm from a translation by Greer. The production will include a ballet sequence, which Strindberg specified in the original manuscript and which has never been performed before. The piece will be directed by Robert Greer and choreographed by Ja' Malik.

MATILDA's Milly Shapiro Set for THE GERANIUM ON THE WINDOWSILL Reading Today

A developmental reading of The Geranium on the Windowsill Just Died But Teacher You Went Right On, a musical adaptation based on the best-selling book by Albert Cullum, featuring a book and lyrics by Michael Lluberes and music by Jared M. Dembowski, is set for today, October 20th at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center in New York City.

LCT3's 'BROWNSVILLE SONG' Opens Tonight

The LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of brownsville song (b-side for tray), a new play by Kimber Lee, directed by Patricia McGregor, makes its New York premiere at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street), featuring Sheldon Best, Sun Mee Chomet, Lizan Mitchell, Chris Myers and Taliyah Whitaker. The show opens tonight, October 20, and will play a 6-week limited engagement through Sunday, November 16.

Raven Theatre Presents Douglas Post Comedy in Fully Staged Reading 11/03-05

Noted Chicago playwright Douglas Post will join Raven Theatre's [Working Title] new play development series with a fully staged workshop production of his comedy Forty-Two Stories, to be directed by Jessica Fisch and performed on the Raven Theatre East Stage Monday, November 3 through Wednesday, November 5.

MGH-Set Medical Thriller ETHER DOME Opens Tonight at the Huntington

Huntington Theatre Company continues its 2014-2015 Season with Ether Dome, 'an essential story' (Hartford Courant) by Elizabeth Egloff about the advent of ether as an anesthetic and the resulting revolutionary impact on the medical profession.

ACT's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE Runs Now thru 11/16

ACT Theatre closes out its 2014 Mainstage season with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play. The hilarious Broadway blockbuster from three-time Obie Award-winner Christopher Durang begins previews tonight, October 17 and is directed by ACT Theatre artistic director Kurt Beattie.

Signal Ensemble Presents Jon Steinhagen's DEVIL'S DAY OFF, Now thru 11/22

Signal Ensemble Theatre presents the world premiere and 2014 - 2015 season opening production of Devil's Day Off at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave., today, October 16 - November 22.
