Patricia Milton's ENEMIES: FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC to Open Central Works' 25th Season, 2/21

Intersection of foreign 'black ops' and family politics...'because counter-terrorism begins at home.' Patricia Milton's plays have been performed in New York, Boston, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and places in between. Enemies: Foreign and Domestic is Central Works World Premiere #46, and will be directed by Gary Graves.

Raven Theatre Presents SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE CHRISTMAS GOOSE, Now thru 1/4

Everyone knows Scrooge and Mr. Potter, but can the holiday spirit work its magic on everyone's favorite man of mystery? Back for a fourth year, Raven Theatre's Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Goose follows Holmes and Watson as they investigate the mysterious theft and even more mysterious discovery of the Countess of Morcar's blue carbuncle, today, December 10-January 4.

2015 Inge Festival to Honor Playwright Donald Margulies

Playwright Donald Margulies will be honored with the William Inge Distinguished Achievement in the American Theater Award, at the 34th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival in Independence, Kansas, at Independence Community College on April 19, 2015. The Inge Festival is the Official Theatre Festival of the State of Kansas.

OCPA Presents ONE GOOD DAY at Theatre Out Tonight

CSUF alums Steven Biggs, Rose London, Jill Cary Martin, Patrick Peterson and Paige Scurti Sternin are all featured in the staged reading of Erica Bennett's One Good Day, the latest full-length play presented in the Orange County Playwrights Alliance's OCPA Studios series. Bennett and London are co-directing tonight's December 6 reading at Theatre Out in the heart of Santa Ana's Artists Village; Theatre Out will receive 50% of the box office proceeds from the event.

The Dramatists Legal Defense Fund Files Brief in Support of Fair Use, Parody in David Adjmi's '3C' Off-Broadway

The Dramatists Legal Defense Fund (DLDF) filed an amicus curiae brief in the Southern District of New York Court case Adjmi v. DLT Entertainment LTD. in support of Adjmi's claim that his Off-Broadway production of "3C" was a fair use and a parody of the popular television show "Three's Company". DLT Entertainment claims that the production is an infringement and 'unauthorized derivative work'.

World Premiere of THE GROUNDLING Set for Axis Theatre

Marc Palmieri has a reputation for writing heartfelt and unsettling plays. Time Out New York writes, 'When Palmieri lets his imagination cut loose, the results can be evocative.' In a Critic's Pick review of Levittown, Palmieri's compelling depiction of the small and quiet dramas of American family life, The New York Times declared, 'you won't stop watching for a second.' Now, Axis Company presents the world premiere of Palmieri's latest play The Groundling, February 11 - March 8, 2015.

Once again The Edge Theater has commissioned an original work written by a local playwright. This year the writer is Ellen K. Graham and the work is an original, family friendly holiday comedy entitled 'The Familiars.'

Playhouse on the Square Accepts Scripts for 3rd Annual 'NewWorks@TheWorks' Competition

Playhouse on the Square, now in its 45th Season, is accepting scripts for the 3rd Annual 'NewWorks@TheWorks' Competition. A panel of local directors, actors, and designers will review all submitted scripts and select six to receive staged readings during the 2015 - 16 season. After the six readings have been presented, Playhouse on the Square will select two that will receive full productions during the 2016 - 17 Season. These two new works will receive world premieres at Playhouse's third performance space, TheatreWorks.

Guy Sprung, Infinitheatre's artistic director, invites the public to be part of the excitement and share their views from today, December 3 - Sunday, December 7 at the beautiful Rialto Theatre. On offer will be the three winning plays from the Write-On-Q! playwriting competition as well as two works in development from previous Write-On-Q! prize winners.

Sam Byron Named Harold Clurman Playwrights Division's Playwright-in-Residence for 2015

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has announced that writer Sam Byron was selected to be Playwright-in-Residence for 2015. Previous residents include Dennis Staroselsky, Halley Feiffer, Mia Chung, Anton Dudley, Christina Gorman, Zayd Dohrn, and Peter Nickowitz. Over two hundred writers submitted applications and full-length plays for consideration in the annual merit-based search.
