Victory Gardens Completes Casting for 2016 IGNITION Festival of New Plays

Victory Gardens Theater announces casting for each of the 2016 IGNITION Festival of New Plays selected works, including The Wayward Bunny by Greg Kotis; BREACH: a manifesto on race in America through the eyes of a black girl recovering from self-hate by Antoinette Nwandu; EOM (end of message) by Laura Jacqmin; Kill Move Paradise by James Ijames; Gaza Rehearsal by Karen Hartman; and Girls In Cars Underwater by Tegan McLeod.

Playwright Chisa Hutchinson to Visit Shepherdstown as DGF Traveling Master

Playwright Chisa Hutchinson (Dead and Breathing, Dirt Rich, She Like Girls, This Is Not the Play, Sex on Sunday) leads writing workshops and a public Q&A as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters Program on July 27 at 4:00 PM at the Frank Center (260 University Drive Shepherdstown, WV 25443).

TOUCH, with ONCE's Katrina Lenk, Coming to 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters welcomes Libra Theater Company with TOUCH, written by Toni Press-Coffman and directed by Nathaniel Shaw. TOUCH begins performances on Thursday, August 18 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 4.  Press opening is Wednesday, August 24 at 7:30 PM.

2016 MFA Playwrights' Workshop to Develop Eight New Works at the Kennedy Center

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, is pleased to co-present the 11th annual MFA Playwright's Workshop (MFAPW) in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays.

Prospect Theatre Company to Premiere ARCHETYPE: July 27-31

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presentsARCHETYPE, a collection of six new mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2016 Musical Theater Lab (the company's 10th lab production).  ARCHETYPE will play from July 27 - 31 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street @ 1st Ave., NYC).

THE TAMING Continues Circle Theatre's Year of the Playwright For Its 35th Anniversary Season 

The fourth show of Circle's season is The Taming, Lauren Gunderson's all female "power-play". This raucous political comedy will have both parties laughing in the aisles. Hilarity ensues when two political opposites wake up and discover themselves locked in a hotel room with a beauty queen. Following her past Circle productions of Exit, Pursued By A Bear (2013) and I and You (2015), The Taming brings to the stage the startling humor and rich roles for women that Ms. Gunderson skillfully creates.

World Premiere of New Play by Theresa Rebeck: SEARED

San Francisco Playhouse (Bill English, Artistic Director; Susi Damilano, Producing Director) begins its fourteenth season with the tasty World Premiere Seared by powerhouse playwright Theresa Rebeck. Searedis a special commission by San Francisco Playhouse. Margarett Perry will direct.
