The American Theatre Wing has announced that Applause Theatre & Cinema Books will publish its original book, The American Theatre Wing presents The Play That Changed My Life: America's Foremost Playwrights on the Plays that Influenced Them.

Southern Rep, the region's premiere professional theatre, joins with the acclaimed All Kinds of Theatre (AKT) to produce the regional premiere of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner I AM MY OWN WIFE by Doug Wright, which runs November 4 - December 6, 2009 at Canal Place.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that I Got Sick Then I Got Better, written and performed by Jenny Allen, and directed by James Lapine and Darren Katz, will play one additional Monday-October 12-at 8pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery.

La Jolla Playhouse presents the world premiere of Creditors, adapted and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winner Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife) from the play by August Strindberg. A La Jolla Playhouse commission, Creditors opens tonight, September 29, and will run through October 25 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

Acclaimed theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced it will present the return of its popular benefit evening STORIES ON 5 STORIES on Monday, November 9.

MEMPHIS, an original Broadway musical, opening Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Shubert Theatre (225 W. 44th Street) following critically-acclaimed and sold-out engagements at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. Previews begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Aftermath, written by Jessica Blank & Erik Jensen, and directed by Ms. Blank, will extend its run through Sunday, October 18. The play, which was originally scheduled to close Sunday, October 4, garnered rave reviews when it opened September 15.

Tremont's resident theatre company, convergence-continuum, continues its 2009 season at the Liminis theatre with the psychological thriller FINN IN THE UNDERWORLD by Jordan Harrison, which premiered in 2005 at tBerkely Repertory Theatre.

Yale Repertory Theater (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) will present a reading of the 2009 winner of the Yale Drama Series, LIDLESS by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig, directed by Hal Brooks, on Monday, September 21 at 7:30PM at the Iseman Theater.

Rising singer-songwriter and Sire/Warner Bros. recording artist Regina Spektor will join playwright / director Tina Landau (Floyd Collins) and lyricist Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) to create the new musical BEAUTY, to be produced by Elephant Eye Theatrical (Stuart Oken, Michael Leavitt, Five Cent Productions), aiming for the 2011-12 Broadway season, following an out-of-town tryout to be announced. Landau will write the book and direct; Spektor the music, and Korie the lyrics.

The play will run through Monday, October 5.

Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar today announced that About Face Theatre will present the groundbreaking LARAMIE PROJECT Epilogue in a historic event that joins over 100 theaters around the country.

On October 12, 2009, La Jolla Playhouse will join with theatres across the country in presenting a reading of the Tectonic Theater Project's new work: The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, by The Laramie Project creators Moisés Kaufman, Leigh Fondakowski, Greg Pierotti, Andy Paris and Stephen Belber. This compelling and groundbreaking epilogue to the original piece will premiere on October 12, 2009 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and at more than 100 other theaters in all 50 states, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, Hong Kong and Australia.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre, located within The West Bank Café (407 West 42nd St.), is pleased to continue our Friday night soiree, THE AFTER PARTY. Now going strong it's third, THE AFTER PARTY is billed as 'a weekly schmoozefest for the theatrically inclined.'

Moderated by Time Out New York's Theater editor and chief drama critic David Cote, the panel discussion will feature all eight writers from Playwrights Horizons' upcoming 2009/2010 Season.
