Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt) directs this electrifying new production of Clifford Odets's (Golden Boy) masterwork about keeping your integrity in the face of success.

Theatre writers who were lured to that other coast by Hollywood greenbacks have been known to express their disillusionment with the film industry via the Broadway stage.  George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart based their comedy Once In A Lifetime on their maddening movie studio experiences as did Betty Comden and Adolph Green with the musical Fade Out – Fade In.

Roundabout Theatre Company has presented a grand total of six plays and one musical since last June, starting with the Jim Parsons-led Harvey and concluding with The Big Knife, which just opened on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Theatre. Today we are talking to a charming and affable presence onstage and onscreen who has scored in a wide range of roles in the West End and throughout the UK from his work as Bobby in COMPANY to MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, MARGUERITE and many more to, now, starring in the Theatre du Chatelet production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE in the title role, Julian Ovenden. In addition to revealing details about the Paris Sondheim production, Ovenden also offers thoughts on his Sondheim work in general. Additionally, Ovenden illustrates his impressions of two spectacular small screen ventures - essaying the role of JFK in the musical-within-the-series on SMASH as well as preparing to play a pivotal role in the new season of DOWNTON ABBEY. Most importantly, Ovenden shares his deep affection for the music of Rodgers & Hammerstein and discusses his participation in the stupendous RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN AT THE MOVIES and his continuing collaboration with master conductor John Wilson. For all Roundabout productions, Education at Roundabout creates an issue of UPSTAGE, designed to enhance students' theatre-going experience. Each edition features interviews with the production's creative team members, contextual information about the play and teacher resources and activities.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) announced that tickets are now available for the world premiere of The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin by Steven Levenson, directed by Scott Ellis. The cast will include Christopher Denham as "James Durnin," Sarah Goldberg as "Katie Nicholson," and David Morse as "Tom Durnin." Additional casting will be announced soon.

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Virginia Stage Company, stages the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's Civil War drama The Whipping Man in Mill Valley from March 28 to April 21, 2013. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs the production. Featuring popular Bay Area actors L. Peter Callender, Nicholas Pelczar and Tobie Windham, as well as the design team from MTC's 2011 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nominated production of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, this co-production rehearsed and ran at VSC in Norfolk, Virginia, from February 26 to March 17, 2013, before tonight's move to MTC. Opening night at MTC is tonight, April 2.
