Save the Date for the 27th Annual LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards

LA STAGE Alliance has announced that the 27th Annual Ovation Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Ahmanson Theatre at The Music Center. Red carpet arrivals begin at 6pm and the curtain will rise at 7:30pm. A reception in the Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion will follow the ceremony.

LA Opera Presents Ted Hearne's THE SOURCE, Today

LA Opera's 2016/17 season will continue with the west coast premiere of The Source, opening on October 19. In this penetrating multimedia work, Brooklyn-based composer Ted Hearne, librettist Mark Doten, director Daniel Fish and production designer Jim Findlay dive into the media hysteria responsible for the many faces of Chelsea Manning, the U.S. Army private who infamously leaked hundreds of thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks.

Pasadena Symphony Presents Gershwin's RHAPSODY IN BLUE with a Colorful Program of Iconic Works

Music Director David Lockington and the Pasadena Symphony continue their newly-expanded Singpoli Classics Series on Saturday, November 5th with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.  A powerhouse program from start to finish with a kaleidoscope of colors, the repertoire opens to one of the great pieces of Americana with Copland's Appalachian Spring, topped off by the quintessential Russian folktale - Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. "This is going to be a really exciting colorful program of iconic pieces," states Lockington.

LA Opera Presents Company Premiere of Philip Glass's AKHNATEN

General Director Placido Domingo has announced final casting information for LA Opera's new production of Akhnaten by Philip Glass. A co-production with English National Opera, Akhnaten will be conducted by Artist in Residence Matthew Aucoin and staged by British director Phelim McDermott.

LA Master Chorale Announces CHRISTMAS IN LOS ANGELES Events

The Music Center and Center Theatre Group To Dim Lights in Honor of Gordon Davidson

 On Saturday, October 8 at 8 p.m., the four Music Center theatres - Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Walt Disney Concert Hall - along with the Kirk Douglas Theatre, will dim their lights in honor of Gordon Davidson, Founding Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group. Gordon Davidson passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016. 

Los Angeles Opera Presents 1922 Horror Film NOSFERATU Featuring Live Performance of New Score by Matthew Aucoin

LA Opera will celebrate Halloween with two screenings of the 1922 silent classic Nosferatu, featuring a new score created by Matthew Aucoin, the company's new Artist in Residence. One of the greatest horror films ever made, the supremely creepy vampire thriller will be accompanied live by Mr. Aucoin conducting a chamber ensemble of musicians from the LA Opera Orchestra and soprano soloist Liv Redpath, a member of the company's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program. Presented as part of the company's Off Grand initiative, the screenings will take place on October 29 and 31 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel.

LA Opera Announces Placido Domingo's Young Artists Concert

General Director Placido Domingo announced today that LA Opera will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program with a concert on April 1, 2017. Mr. Domingo will conduct the LA Opera Orchestra in Domingo's Young Artists, a performance featuring current members and distinguished alumni of the program, joined by guest soloist Sondra Radvanovsky, star of the company's spring production of Tosca, in a concert featuring favorite arias, duets and ensembles.

Placido Domingo Stars in LA Opera's Season Opener, MACBETH, Today

LA Opera's 2016/17 season will open with Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth, opening on September 17, 2016. General Director Placido Domingo will perform the title role for the first time in the United States. The new production will be conducted by Music Director James Conlon and staged by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak.

Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov Return to LA Opera in May

General Director Placido Domingo announced today that soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Yusif Eyvazov will return to Los Angeles in concert with the LA Opera Orchestra, conducted by Jader Bignamini. The concert will take place at 7:30pm on May 4, 2017, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Tickets for the concert are currently on sale exclusively to LA Opera subscribers.
