LA STAGE Alliance has announced that the 27th Annual Ovation Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Ahmanson Theatre at The Music Center. General Director Placido Domingo has announced final casting information for LA Opera's new production of Akhnaten by Philip Glass. A co-production with English National Opera, Akhnaten will be conducted by Artist in Residence Matthew Aucoin and staged by British director Phelim McDermott.

LA Opera will celebrate Halloween with two screenings of the 1922 silent classic Nosferatu, featuring a new score created by Matthew Aucoin, the company's new Artist in Residence. One of the greatest horror films ever made, the supremely creepy vampire thriller will be accompanied live by Mr. Aucoin conducting a chamber ensemble of musicians from the LA Opera Orchestra and soprano soloist Liv Redpath, a member of the company's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program. Presented as part of the company's Off Grand initiative, the screenings will take place on October 29 and 31 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel.
General Director Placido Domingo announced today that LA Opera will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program with a concert on April 1, 2017. Mr. Domingo will conduct the LA Opera Orchestra in Domingo's Young Artists, a performance featuring current members and distinguished alumni of the program, joined by guest soloist Sondra Radvanovsky, star of the company's spring production of Tosca, in a concert featuring favorite arias, duets and ensembles.
