Ben Platt, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Ciara Renee & More Set for Charlie Rosen's BROADWAY BIG BAND, 10/10

Following multiple sold out engagements, Charlie Rosen's Broadway Big Band returns to the intimate Manhattan venue 54 Below on Saturday August 22nd to continue an official residence for 2015. The 9:30 PM concert, helmed by director Max Friedman, features returning guest vocalists Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening, American Idiot), Hannah Elless (Godspell, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell's Bright Star), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Hedwig and The Angry Inch, American Idiot), Janet Krupin (Bring It On, If/Then), Lauren 'LOLO' Pritchard (DCD2 Recording Artist, Spring Awakening), and Ciara Renee? (Big Fish, Pippin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), plus the Broadway Big Band debuts of Nicholas Christopher (Motown The Musical, Whorl Inside A Loop) and Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, The Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hansen). Friedman and Rosen co-produce the series.

COME FLY WITH ME Set for Don't Tell Mama in November

Acclaimed entertainment destination Don't Tell Mama presents two performances of Come Fly with Me - Brian De Lorenzo Celebrates Sinatra at 100 tribute concert with The Scott Nicholas Trio on Sunday, November 1, 5pm and Saturday, November 7, 7 pm at 343 W. 46th Street, New York. The show's tour launches in Boston, and continues with two performances in Puerto Vallarta in December following the New York performances.

THE BARRY Z SHOW to Honor Chip Deffaa

'The Barry Z Show,' which has been covering the New York theater scene on cable TV for more than 20 years, will salute ASCAP award-winning playwright/director Chip Deffaa's theatrical productions, on a show being taped for future broadcast 10 pm, October 1st at the midtown club Don't Tell Mama. Host Barry Z, who's often saluted Deffaa's productions over the past 20 years, will be celebrating the release of Deffaa's 12th cast album, 'The Irving Berlin Ragtime Revue.' And he will present an array of performers doing numbers from an assortment of Deffaa's shows.

RICKY RITZEL's BROADWAY Set for Don't Tell Mama, 10/4

Ricky Ritzel's Broadway returns to Don't Tell Mama on Sunday, Oct. 4th at 8PM with music and laughs from 'Ben Franklin in Paris,' 'Damn Yankees' and 'Gypsy.' The series, running since summer, is fashioned after Sylvia Fine Kaye's 'Musical Comedy Tonight' PBS programs from the 1970s. Each installment of Ricky Ritzel's Broadway, lauded as 'extraordinary' by Theater Pizzazz, highlights songs and stories from Broadway musicals with a star studded revolving cast. Ritzel, a widely admired performer and denizen of New York piano bars and the Cabaret world, gives wry commentary as well as accompanying the performers on piano.

West Coast Cabaret Star Robyn Spangler Returns to the Met Room with Linda Ronstadt Tribute Show Tonight

Over the past few years, there's not a concert performer or cabaret singer in the country who has paid greater tribute to pop/rock icon Linda Ronstadt-and to rave reviews--than Los Angeles-based vocalist Robyn Spangler. Once again, Robyn Spangler brings her very personal Linda Ronstadt tribute show to the Metropolitan Room for a one-night only show today, September 25 at 7 pm. Featuring acclaimed Musical Director Jon Weber on piano (and cabaret stars Meg Flather, Barbara Porteus, and Craig Pomranz provided stellar backup vocals), Spangler explores the greatest hits of Ronstadt's songbook, from the award-winning pop songs to the big band tunes, from twangy country to a dash of spicy Mexicali. Robyn's show is a young woman's musical journal revealing how her emotional experiences growing up mirrored those depicted in Ronstadt's songs. This is a highly evocative show accessible and identifiable for audiences of all ages.

BWW Review: Christine Lavin, Don White and Friends Humorously Blur the Lines Between Folk and Cabaret at Don't Tell Mama

Christine Lavin, prolific (and dang funny) songwriter and performer of the east coast cabaret and folk scenes, creates a hootenanny during her residency at Don't Tell Mama most Wednesday nights in September. Co-hosting the series is Don White, folk singer-songwriter and activist out of Lynhurst, MA. The special guest on the evening of September 9 was LA-based lyricist, singer, producer Hillary Rollins. Each weekly show features a guest with whom Lavin and White will sing and laugh and swap stories. It's a good time.

Several months ago, 23-year-old tenor Alex Mollica approached the mic at Don't Tell Mama in the heart of Times Square. Despite the instruction of the venue's title, his wildcard singing range and one-liners got people talking, laughing, and shedding a tear or two. A YouTube video and a whim resulted in Doing It My Way, Mollica's upcoming autobiographical cabaret at The Duplex.

Andrea Bell Wolff to Bring Back 'Bad Girls Do Cry at Don't Tell Mama'

Broadway, regional and Las Vegas star, Andrea Bell Wolff, reprises her smashing show, 'Bad Girls Do Cry,' at Don't Tell Mama on October 8th at 7pm. The music and comedy performance - conceived and written by Andrea Bell Wolff and Barry Levitt and featuring a diminutive performer with giant-size talent - is dedicated to the sounds of 1960s girl groups. Musical Director Barry Levitt, leading a quintet as well as additional singers Carolee Goodgold and Deb Lyons, will accompany Ms. Bell Wolff in a string of hits. Dennis Deal directs the show. MAC Award-Winning Vocalist Gary Crawford Presents BARRY LEVITT SONGBOOK at the Met Room Tonight

Vocalist Gary Crawford burst onto the New York cabaret scene like a "thunderbolt" in October 2014 with his debut show 'In Love With Love' at the Metropolitan Room. With the veteran Music Director and Arranger Maestro Barry Levitt at the piano, Crawford produced a captivating show that earned him rave reviews from BroadwayWorld.com and Cabaret Scenes Magazine and ultimately a 2014 Manhattan Association of Cabaret & Clubs Award (MAC) for "Best Male Vocal Debut." (Crawford had already performed a "CD Release" show of 'In Love With Love' at the Metropolitan Room that April). After spending the past year and a half performing as a guest singer in variety shows throughout city at venues such as Iridium, Birdland, Don't Tell Mama, and Urban Stages, Crawford has again teamed up with Levitt for a new show, this one featuring songs composed by Levitt himself. Crawford will star in Secret Dreams: Gary Crawford Sings The Barry Levitt Songbook at the Metropolitan Room on September 2 at 7 pm. The show will feature the Barry Levitt Quartet, including Jon Burr on bass, Ray Marchica on drums, and Jack Cavari on guitar, as well as special guest vocalists.
