The Women's Forum of New York hosted The 4th Annual Elly Awards Luncheon yesterday, November 17, benefitting The Education Fund of the Women's Forum at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The awards, named for Women's Forum founder Elinor "Elly" Guggenheimer, were presented to outstanding women leaders, Billie Jean King, 39-time Grand Slam winning tennis player and champion of social change and equality, and Sallie Krawcheck, Chair, Ellevate Network and Ellevate Asset Management, and staunch supporter of women in the financial industry.

THE RIVER opened last night, Nov. 16, at Circle in the Square (50th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). New York's funniest show Celebrity Autobiography has added music icon Debbie Harry, four-time Oscar nominee Marsha Mason, and Ralph Macchio (My Cousin Vinny, The Karate Kid, Dancing with the Stars) to the cast of its November show on Monday, November 24 at 7pm at The Triad (Stage 72 -- 158 West 72nd Street). City Theater Company gets their Irish up for the 21st season, opening in December with a reimagined staging of James Joyce's The Dead. Richard Nelson won the Tony Award for Best Musical Book in 2000 for his adaptation of the short story that closes out Joyce's seminal collection The Dubliners. The music is by Shaun Davey, with lyrics conceived and adapted by Richard Nelson and Shaun Davey.
On Sunday November 2, Kritzerland presented its 51st show Put on Your Sunday Clothes, The Songs of Jerry Herman at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal with special guest star Karen Morrow. No surprise that this was an uplifting, thoroughly enjoyable evening of song, for as host Bruce Kimmel stated up front, 'No one brings optimism to Broadway like Jerry Herman.' Fabulous Tom Griep served as musical director at the piano with super songsters David Engel, Valerie Perri, Damon Kirsche, Shannon Warne, Chelsea Emma Franko and 14 year-old Sami Staitman as well as the aforementioned queen of singers Karen Morrow. Warner Bros. Records is pleased to announce that it has signed George Lewis, Jr., AKA Twin Shadow, to its roster, and will release the Los Angeles-based artist's third album, next Spring. Twin Shadow will then embark on a headline tour behind the album starting in March 2015.
The Geffen Playhouse production of The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord, is extending again, now through December 7.
