Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival Announces Opening & Closing Movies

Ellen Wedner, Director of The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival, today announced the opening and closing films of the upcoming 28th annual festival that will present 35 movies from around the world. Both movies are music-based, making their Florida Premiere at the Festival, and will be shown at the AMC CityPlace 20 in West Palm Beach.

The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival Opens This Week

Opening this Week: the 28th annual The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival which will present movies from around the world. The opening night movie this Thursday is BODY AND SOUL: An American Bridge, which focuses on the early performance history and cross-cultural impact of the jazz standard by Jewish composer Johnny Green. In addition, popular singers and Legends 100.3 FM morning co-hosts Jill and Rich Switzer will perform live this evening at AMC CityPlace 20 in Mizner Park.

The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County has added six new members to its board of directors and has appointed global finance expert Nathan Slack as Chair. William Parmelee has been named Vice Chair, and Jean Sharf is now Secretary. School Board of Palm Beach County member Debra Robinson and Boca Raton Resort & Club President and Managing Director John Tolbert, have joined as ex-officio board members.

The Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches Arts & Culture and The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival are partnering to present this weekend the Florida premiere of THE BEN HECHT SHOW, a one-man theatrical production about the fascinating life of the Chicago newspaperman turned legendary playwright (The Front Page) and screenwriter (Stagecoach, Notorious, Scarface, Twentieth Century).

The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival to Host A TRIBUTE TO GENE WILDER

The 27th annual Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival will have a special pre-Festival kick-off event on Tuesday, January 10 - A Tribute to Gene Wilder, which will include a dessert reception by Starz Bakery, a live Klezmer performance and a screening of the 1979 hit comedy The Frisco Kid, starring Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford. This special tribute will be held at 6 pm at the Mandel JCC, 5221 Hood Road in Palm Beach Gardens.
