Ensemble for the Romantic Century's VAN GOGH'S EAR Opens Tonight

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century has announced that the 2017-18 season, ERC's 17th, will take place at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues) beginning with Van Gogh's Ear. Opening Night is set for tonight, August 17th. This limited Off-Broadway engagement runs through September 10th only.

Tucker Theatricals and All Out Arts, Inc present After the Chairs, starring Don Cummings (Actor 'A New Brain' at West Coast Ensemble, Playwright 'A Good Smoke' Public Theatre reading with Meryl Streep) and Allen Warnock ('The Skin of Our Teeth' and 'A Servant of Two Masters' at Williamstown Theatre Festival). The world premiere of award-winning playwright David Koteles' play After the Chairs, directed by Jason Jacobs, is an official selection of the 2013 All Out Arts, Inc.'s Fresh Fruit Festival, and will be presented today, July 10th - 14th at The Wild Project (195 E. 3rd Street).

Producer David Youse and Four Things Productions in association with L.A. Works has just announced a celebrity staged reading in celebration of The 25th Anniversary of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias to take place on Monday, 3 December 2012 at 7pm to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This special one night only event will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theater located at 121 Christopher Street in New York City, where the original production performed. Directed by Judith Ivey and starring Blythe Danner, Annie Potts as M'Lynn, the original Truvy, Margo Martindale as Ouiser, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Shelby and Sarah Stiles as Annelle. Additional cast announced soon! Music for this production has been generously donated by Bonnie Raitt and Pat Boone. With support from the 25th Anniversary Honorary Committee including Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Daryl Hannah, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts and sponsored by Lifetime Television, Magnolia Bakery and Veranda Restaurant. A VIP reception with the cast and crew will follow this special performance.

Your Money or Your Art is the theme of the July 24 benefit night at International CringeFest '09 at the Producers' Club. The theme evokes the struggle of the artist, especially in an economic downturn, and all the plays that evening are comically razor-sharp: A Dark & Stormy Night (producer tortures writer 'for his own good'), The Poorly-Written Play Festival (lambasts whilst demonstrating bad playwriting), Worst. Play. Ever. (live radio drama with a maniacal twist), and Piss Play Is about Minorities, So It's Really Important (just how far will one go for funding?).

The festival will again be taking over the Grand Theatre at the Producers' Club, July 20-August 9, M-Sat. @ 8, Sundays @ 2 (films), and late-night Saturday at 10:30.
