Director, screenwriter, and artist Harmony Korine has developed an aesthetic as unique and bracing as any that launched in the heyday of 1990s American independent film. Korine made his name as the screenwriter of the nihilistic-teen movie Kids, but came into his own as a director with the 1997 feature debut, Gummo. From March 8 through 22, 2013, Museum of the Moving Image will present a retrospective of all of Korine's five feature films to date, including his latest, Spring Breakers-a triumph at both the Toronto and Venice film festivals.

According to Deadline.com Award winning playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah is working on a script for a biopic about 1970s soccer star Laurie Cunningham. The film is entitled 'Black Flash.' Cunningham was the first English player to join Real Madrid, the most successful soccer team from Spain. Cunningham was also the first black player to represent England at any level (under 21), and the first to represent the full England side in a competitive match, although Viv Anderson had appeared in a friendly before him to be recognised as the nation's first black full international.

Jenen. UNCLE VANYA will begin previews on Saturday, January 17 at Classic Stage Company at 136 East 13th Street. An official press opening date will be announced in the coming weeks. Actor, producer and director John Malkovich, who directed a French version of Zach Helm's THE GOOD CANARY in Paris last year, will now direct a new production of the play in Spanish. EL BUEN CANARIO will be open on November 26 at Teatro de Los Insurgentes in Mexico City for a ten-week run.
